Three boys – Paisley, Preston, and Pooky -
had tried to make Halloween spooky.
Paisley practiced black magic.
Toothless Preston was tragic;
but Pooky, bug-eyed, was just kooky.
I wanted to write something real scary
About a Monster
Both toothless and hairy
But he needed a name, my grandson proclaimed
I think you should just call him "JERRY"

My baby came along. Slowly picking up and rising

The birthday cake melted into a sloppy pile
Making the old lady give up a rare toothless smile
She had told the baker to add starch which he would not do
Now the sloppy birthday cake was a river of goo
The royal baby newborn was uptight

Toothless In Montclair
A tormented man who lives in Montclair
spends every day in a dentist’s chair
All the pulling and drilling—
Not to mention the billing!
He now brushes teeth that aren’t there.

just eye and
not much anymore...
I peek at life...
Outside, life
Just races,
knocks,
exhausts
kills itself...
the street is urban
jungle
and life a real beast... !

really gross
you've seen lately?
For me,
it was a toothless old lady
on a bus stop bench,
gumming Cheetos she first
softened up
in a paper cup of water,
her mouth and chin
bright orange.
A toothless old man
Smiled at me today,
His smile was gummy
And he had matted hair of grey
His clothes were torn and tattered
All that be as it may
To me, all that mattered
Was the smile he gave to me
As he passed me on his way!
