Premium Member J R R Tolkien
The amazing linguist J. R. R. Tolkien -
On creating an immersive Middle Earth he was keen.
Being short, loving good food, and smoking a pipe,
he considered the hobbit to be just his type!...

Spaghetti

The meat,
the cheese,
the sauce.

The smiles,
the laughs,
the wine.

The music,
the song,
the moment...

The vow of forever!

Then...

You and I,
and the garlic bread!

Premium Member Jrr Tolkien Quote
Sun trying to find it's way through mystical

frosty mountain tops

looking over man made ruins of

broken fence posts

set along the desserted dried up shore line

the years have faded by, but

"Still round the corner there may wait,

a new road or a secret gate."...

Encouragement To All On the Soup
All of you out there in the darkness
Keep writing for the "soup"
You can write something as funny as Woody Allan,
as imaginative as J.R.R. Tolkien
I know you can do it
So let the critics talk
You are the creators
So live up to your destiny
and create something great!
I know you can do it!
So do it!!...

More Encouragement To Writers
You out there in the darkness
Picking up your pens
Need encouragement from the Lower East Side
Surely you can writing something as imaginative as Tolkien
Funny as Woody Allen
As moving as Countee Cullen. So pick up your pens
and write
send it to poetrysoup.com
No, you probably won't be able to quit the day job
Or maybe you will!...

What To Read
Read Tolkien
Read Howard Fast
     Asimov
is sure to last
    as we walk
omto the 21st
    century
  our minds must be
free from terror
      free from pain
free to start
     all over again
read a poem
   all alone
   an ancient dream
   brought to life
avoid the strife
avoid the strife
     say happiness - LONG LIFE...

My Quest
I rode a unicorn for miles,
And then a dragon flew me here.
The fairies took me to their queen,
Who introduced me to the seer.
He prophesised my kingdom’s fall,
But witches chanted, cast a spell;
Their magic overturned the curse.
My quest is over: all is well.
Still round the corner there may wait,
A new road or a secret gate.

* Last two lines are the Tolkien quote...

Death Blues
Menachem Schneerson is dead
J.R.R. Tolkien is dead
Alan Watts is dead
All of the great religous theorists and thinkers
will eventually turn to dust
Is there life after death?
Some people think so
Let's hope we see each other
in the sweet bye and bye
The world we live in is full of pain
But the great thinkers can relieve that pain
If only for that brief moment which is life.......

My Script-- Tolkien
I have cut a Simril--
From the darkened grounds of Terra I made it...
Chipping away at the coal-block,
Picking till red my nails became,
With hammer and chisel striking.
And if my aim was true
A light would shine through, a silvery hue--
Iluvatar's Beauty...

Many to it have I shown--
I even presented it to my Lords and Nobles
Way back when,
But never did I see it again

My Script
Tolkien 8/2/'14...

Love the Kindness and Forgiveness In Plants
On the radio: "plants have both beauty and intelligence!" Her University professors were adamant: "If you want beauty, rather than biology, Why not transfer to art, or art history?!" Lord, do forgive our experts, professors ... Unwilling to teach as DEEPLY as C. S. Lewis, Tolkien, holocaust survivors ... And trees: unstinting with shade, space for critters, flowers, fruit, air for me! Never sulking, whining, withholding love: forgiving our poisoning spaces interminably
...
