My Heart's Portrait of You
Your face,
Sunshine in the rain.

Your arms,
Angel's wings, warm and sheltering.

Your eyes,
Like fields of blackeyed susans,

Lovely and dark
With light.

Cynthia...

Yellow
Do you remember when you loved me?
When the Black-Eyed Susans danced
in the buttered sun?
we were so sensual then,
with nothing between us
but this light,
this colour of Yellow.......

August

Along the backroads black-eyed susans snooze
Unfazed and unaffected by August’s humid hand
Growing tall with Queen Anne’s Lace beside roadside stands,
Utopias of sweet white corn, farm fresh beans and blackberries,
Shaded by shadows of leafy walnut trees, a dusty road romance,
Tabernacles of tranquility in summer’s fertile siestas....

Premium Member Black Eyes
Off to Kindergarten,
second week of school.

An excited voice
from the back seat,
"Oh, how beautiful,
I see black eyes!"

"What?" I ask, puzzled.
"I saw black eyes,"
she repeats.

I'm wondering
what kind of animal
she has spotted.

Then I spot them,
Black-Eyed Susans,
blooming beside the road.

Like her grandmother,
she loves flowers....

     conjures

         the many

           to lift in light

and reach for the peach for the greater good

golden the vast sea of black-eyed Susans

  merging in shine

creating

    a lone

        soul
