Auto Shop
Brought my car to an auto shop,
to discuss auto with a Mom and Pop,
motor good and ran,
had thin spongy pads,
happy I am now braking glad.

Tulips
colorful torches
held by green soft spongy stalks ---
splendorous cloud-wrap

gorgeous carpets spread
the breeze plays a calm concert ---
sun's royal parade

Premium Member Novembers Coming
spongy mushroom land
a violets gentle smile
leaves on forest floor

squirrels cast aways
crucified pieces and bits
acorns and walnuts

waters turn over
fish burrow into the banks
novembers coming...

Premium Member Along the Golden Avenue
gilt leaves are falling
at the last thrill of summer
life is filled with change

sunshine fills the noon
scattering leaves cars go by
on a tree lined street

brisk winds whip my hair
red cardinal is staying
for the joys of snow

a spongy carpet
on a path that goes for miles
ending in the spring...

Common Side Effects
You enter your mind daily.
Sometimes you swim in an eye-socket.
Science has proven
that poetry is highly contagious
so never go anywhere or mingle
with the rest of humanity.
Sadly there is no cure.
Eventually the brain gets spongy
which of course
is the only upside to this condition,
for it can be used to mop up
after you spill your guts
all over a page....

Dusk
Clouds as Heavenly rose bushes
     In the sky
Charcoaled veined branches
     Pushing and piercing
Entangled knotted wooden arms
     Acquiring the sky
Captivating territory
     Pressing into spongy soft
Of early darkness.

Molding their wishes into Blue
     Tranquility cut, scissored-in
As hurrying birds chisel their way
     Into darkening
Descending day....

Sense of Fun
Seriousness is an acquired trait,
Exactly like moss on embedded stone –
Nearly enveloping the rock’s raw state,
Slowly eroding the surface where grown,
Entirely crumbling to soil

Old granite that had once stood firm and strong,
Falling victim now to lichen’s toil,

Feeling spongy, green comfort … nothing wrong,
Until its whole face has been worn away.
Never rolling with laughter, … ground to decay....

Premium Member My Eyes Grow Old
My eyes
Grow old
As if with
Her hair
Bright and white
In the summer air
Soft and light
An autumn evening hue
Warm and comforting
A winters fire glow
Spongy and curly
A spring day walk
My eyes
They don’t register
The changes
Like my body does the seasons
Only when she
Cuts it
Do my eyes
See the changes
She is younger
Again
Along with my eyes
And the beauty
I see
In the seasons
Of a year...

Premium Member Autumn In the Woods
the fey are listening
I sense them, but understand they know me not
faeries, elves, and a possible gnome here
I sit next to three red mushrooms
waiting for them to come out of their houses
bright purple violets trimmed in yellow
popping through the spongy forest floor
mushroom hunting next to oak soldiers
what could be better?
Spying a faerie perhaps
But they are secretive and shy
because they know me not...

Premium Member Rough Shod
A floor of dead rusted leaves rustle and crackle
Crunching their crisp skins dancing under my feet
Shuffling with sodden soil thick with grit - I grapple
With sticky dew grass and spongy peat

Alligatored tree bark grabs my hands then bites as I shamble
Holding on for balance on uneven chards of scalloped stone
Dazed by the cool dark mist in this early morning amble
I am rough shod but heart happy right down to my bones!...

A Cat's Midwife
Knuckles deep in a cat.
The spongy flesh pulses around my fingers
Each time I move inside.

Her stomach undulates
As if it was alive.
Wait-- it is.
I am trembling.

Her pained meows
Offset by the mewlings
Heard from within her.

The first head pokes out,
Slick and red
Staining the scratchy towel underneath.
Then more, four in all,
Pawing clueless about on the reddened fabric.
Their eyes still shut, yet they see the world....

The Righteous Step
as I step into this world
the world in which I live
the carpet that's beneath my feet
pine needles and spongy grass slightly give

welcome me much more
than any Persian rug would dare
as freedom's taste that's ever sweet
permeates the mornings air

who could beg for eyes to see
who would dare need ears to hear
when this massive feeling afforded me
comes in oh so clear

Wrote this with much liberty off a quote from Helen Keller....

Muted Midday
Naked pure newborn Eden, unashamed
Soles step intrepid on spongy moss
                Quadrant of tropical dapple claimed
                Fruits in Winterless heart's emboss

Limbs mingle, indulged by marquee manuevres
           Ponder labyrinth piths without hindrance
Sultry poetry compiled among canopy soothing
            Canoe traverses untold as fingerprints

Trash Day
In the electric room in Melancholia Europe
Alone in the dark an old man sits stark naked
To be born alive this time is what it takes
When reality knocks at a door that is not there

Mushrooms have it spongy easy quiet
Damp soil is all they require
You have no walls, floors or ceilings
When old men are set in their place

Do not be afraid of him in his innocence
Europe is a far away place with trash bags
To take him out in morning
Plenty of space remains for fungal growth...

Butter crumb confection is bliss;
Soft transformation oozes across my palate.
How I love my sweets and dance my taste bud dance!

Liquid silk cocoa whipped with, delicate ease;
a moment of ecstasy.
Caramel scents tasted with vanilla bean milk
are a bakers’ miracle.

Lemon-mint liquid served in a golden mug
of pekoe slips over the tongue.
Strawberry snow cream sits atop spongy beds of
flour and sugar while,
sticky ooze engulfs my soul freely.

Oh, how I love my sweets!...

My private universe
resides far beyond the cosmos
and into galaxies yet unfound.
Man’s mortal eye
cannot appreciate
the vastness of beyond.

My private universe
encompasses all, yet nothing.
It is much too profound to contain.
No human sought
to walk moist, spongy shores,
none to drink its knowledge.

My private universe
oozes with untold adventure
and pictures of never-before-seen
frames from my mind.
Caricature creatures
silently syphon words,

Unfitting to exist....
