We are all sojourners on this earth,
Though our lives be short or long.
We whom are of less than noble birth
May not find life a song.
Living is for the strong.

A Forever Place
There is no forever place in this life-
It ends in Death.
But Death is just a transition to
To another country.

Like Abraham, we are just
Sojourners in this life.
We are waiting for that blessed relief-
Another place that is eternal.
Heaven awaits us!...

I Can Dream
I can dream, can't I?
Everything old is new again,
all that was is now on rewind and repeat.
Look at history -
 we are immigrants,
 sojourners from our homeland,
it's a struggle and a strain
fighting for freedom's voice once again.
A land where everyone is equally the same
looking for a place to be free.
wasn't that America?....

Missing Friends
I can't remember feeling so incomplete...
Time and distance are a void...

Where there was you.

Loneliness, a mind possessed of itself
Groping in twilight revelation

We're sojourners on a trek
Spirits compelled to give and share

Trading smiles we'll never know again
Owing nothing.

Vanished Egos
The clouds pass silently above On their way to infinity; Sojourners drifting in the sky; Compliantly acquiescent to whims of dominating winds. Our paths to perpetuity are like those hovering above: Short time stays in this dimension crammed with egregious egotism; Marvel at insignificance as though it were significant. Our egos pass, notwithstanding, into amnesic nothingness.

Wind can be a bit pushy
at times
Though I would be first
to admit
of needing nudges in different
directions

inclined to linger too long
under shady canopy

or at the seashore
gazing off into dreamy
horizon

my mind inclined toward
repainting sunsets
rearranging stars into
unique constellations

or writing poetry
strictly for sojourners

each poem a gateway
to ports further unknown...

My heart beats harder at the thought of farewell We are here just to meet and part in life~ merely sojourners! When I lie dead in my coffin pale and white motionless, you all will send me away with a farewell kiss. All I wish, as you bid adieu is to keep me fondly in your kind thoughts now and then after laid to rest!

Premium Member A Different Season
days of fasting overlap
prayers offered to fill a gap
in lives surrounded by a wrap
of tradition and modern seditions

today, Lent and Ramadan bring
times of reflection and for some, to sing
folks set aside the mundane, for a better thing
to live special days, mingled with cherished conditions

like ships passing in the night
sojourners waiting for the morning light
take time to reflect on another’s might
seeking the Divine with community renditions...
