August! Most days uphold the Leo Sign-

Urge those then born- to follow Lion's line.

Grand confidence and steadfastness are prone-

Unless the sting of arrogance is shown-

Sensed not accepting critics and their slights;

The August Lions share mixed-bag delights....

The Disowned Angel
The grace of god powered with wings
Slave everymore to these slights in time
No repentance from these virtual souls
Apart from the one
Beloved son exhiled and debunked
More human than angel
Less evil but more punished by being more human
Not the essence of evil
but its punisher.
The first risen voice...

Family Gathering
Family Gathering

He dreaded family gathering and now
he was in the middle of one.

Tried to lasso the wind (Samuel Johnson)
of old slights remembered.

They turned to him called him a coward
always siding with his mother or being absent.

He just sat as not hearing the coward bit riled
as usual he absented going into his den....

To a Friend
To a friend

A friend of mine ended up in a hospital
His heart had taken a heavy load of a hard life.
I told him he was no longer Tarzan. but a middle-aged man
whatever unresolved problem he has in the past
he had to leave it behind in the heap of hurts and slights
that hatred only damages the hater.
I spoke from experience, I had been where he is now....

Chimera
barkers hawk
shifting paradigms
change is good
and I've got a pocket full
drop a token
in the slot
and get
all the advice
any clown
made of nuts and bolts
can offer
a calliope jangles
the unsaid
a cacophony of slights
left with a sickly slick
(candy apple on a stick)
swirl and whirl
gone crazy
just another ride
just another chance
at the desperation
and acceptance
of the soul carnival...

Rampage
There is a new rage that is taking
over the country,
Vigilantes going on rampages,
No one is immune from their acts
of passion,
They are making recompense
for imagined slights,
not really thinking about the
consequences or ruining
other peoples' lives,
The spurned are unleashing their
feelings everywhere,
Folks are no longer free to roam,
afraid to tackle life openly,
because a wicked wind may arrive
suddenly...........

Protected In Pain
protected I sit alone
lacking the comfort of love
no one to soothe my isolation
surviving an angry crowd
i want to scream out loud
where is my equal
someone strong in spirit
able to find love under the pain
pain from slights of countless people
love not gone
just covered up tight
out in the open
what others see
not the real me
pain that has a life of it's own
taking my laughter
eating away at my joy
leaving me protected and alone

Here by this bay
New light of day

Dawn has come round
Night flees these grounds

My brief stroll here
Sparks thoughts most clear

I purge unease
Wander in peace

Moments of joy
Fill still employ

No need to fight
Harsh pain that slights

I walk with me
Glimpse a kind sea

People pass by
In self-styled sighs

Morning has come
Let heart sing psalms

Here by the bay
Words temper stay

Lack
three hundred and sixty degrees
around me
is blank.
you are nowhere to be found,
therefore I
have nothing left
to surmise about
us.

reaching out
only slights my
equilibrium:
my view of everything else
is now distorted.

no glow shines from the
memories,

nothing else is left
to be lifted
from the disturbances I loved so much.

consistency wasn’t an option;
therefore discrepancy was bound.

let it go
let it be
let it drift away with the wind.

it’s over....

Conflagration

Kindling
building upon the edge
of the fortress,

--slights—
		real and imagined,

--daggers—
		slashing scars
			stabbing wounds
					untended

--Cupid’s arrows—
		piercing a heart

repelled
	in stony silence

--Anger’s tinder—
		aching
			for immolation

--a lone spark—
		igniting
			the brittle detritus

A Perfect Storm
		raging
			against the confines

of its life.
