Conflagration - a Perfect Storm
Conflagration
Kindling
building upon the edge
of the fortress,
--slights—
real and imagined,
--daggers—
slashing scars
stabbing wounds
untended
--Cupid’s arrows—
piercing a heart
repelled
in stony silence
--Anger’s tinder—
aching
for immolation
--a lone spark—
igniting
the brittle detritus
A Perfect Storm
raging
against the confines
of its life.
