as leaves crash on down.
Feeling like a winged one
Poised high above the skyline
looking down at the lights of this life
slightly timid of frail wings

Golden skyline burns,
ambition dressed as virtue —
dead smiles sharpened thin.
Compassion becomes rumor;
even kindness costs too much.
Despite these struggles
and this river of tears
I'm determined to touch the skyline
Flying like an eagle
rising above all the mistakes made
