Two years after a fall in our garage and a fractured back, I was diagnosed with acute osteoporosis. This diagnosis came as a shock and was a life-altering moment. After two years of daily teriparatide injections, my bone density improved to ‘almost’ osteopenia. I now receive a much stronger injection (Prolia) twice a year. , I’m delighted to be able to walk briskly for two hours every day and complete weight bearing exercises at the local health club. Calcium and Vitamin D supplements are also my friends. Still, I have to be cautious, taking smaller steps when I walk and being cognizant of my balance.
