My nose pressed flat against the pane
A yearning welled within,
A sigh,a shrug,I shuffle off
Childhood was rationed then.
Hover, above me
I see myself below, still
Arms reached out, floating
Dark hooded sentries, shuffle
Entering, safe, distant light
Georgy ran as Georgy can
Across the hot white shifting sand,
His hot foot shuffle
Caused such a kerfuffle,
Kicking sand up as he ran.
Throw out the words
Like toss of dice
A scrabble game
You shuffle twice
Ink spots appear
To your delight
You now make sense
Of this.
why bark for oneself
when gullibility rules,
the runt of the cur
rushes to aid one’s master
rogue awaits to shuffle pack.

I shuffle the cards
a five card deal
I parlay true love
you ante sex appeal
my poker hand good
a queen high straight
I win your heart
a twist of fate
Papers shuffle… a wandering stare
Time creeping… don’t ever despair
Pushing… pulling
Frowning … smiling
Falling… rising
Time creeping…
slow down, enjoy the game…
On Halloween night, the walking dead clones
Shuffle around with mumbled grunts and groans
But have no fear
When they come near
They would rather die, than turn off their phones!
When you find yourself stuck in a corner
You will turn and see rules spread all over
Soon be lost in the shuffle
Up the creek with no paddle
Missed the boat like a fish out of water
Keep the old chaff safe
in its place, don’t shuffle
broken bits of straw
out the door
opening on the landscape
of morning. I don’t remember
a single dream. I’ll
step out clean.
I shuffle through the rustling leaves,
As others fall like rain;
I love the shades of reds and golds -
But sweeping up’s a pain!
Jack Horne, 14th August, for Russell’s Autumn Colours contest
This is a blues tune
For your heart’s beat
To coincide with
But the shuffle rhythm is irregular
And your pulse cannot handle it
So, you’re gone for good
Well, I’d say you’ve got the blues
Form:
Leg weary and tired
Feeling nearly expired
I shuffle on and on
Just wanting the miles to be gone
Home in the distance now
The hurt will disappear no wondering how

My life, in darkness
Skeletal trees silhouette
Decaying, left and right
I shuffle through the fallen
My light, soon to be consumed

My heart pulsates in my chest
When you come around
All bets are off
I lay my cards on the table
As you shuffle the deck
And I tremble to think
That you actually know me
Yet still stay by my side

Listen to poem:
Shifting standards in drifting sands,
where forgiveness is a sundae treat,
spins the wheel of fortune
to shuffle-card mode.
Where truth is discounted,
by dealing cards face-up,
and uncounted.
Beneath one and the same
motionless moon,
we cast moving shadows
that are gone, oh, so soon.
Atop one and the same
looming mountain,
we shuffle faint footsteps
that are soon forgotten!
The wind stretches taut
across his ears,
playing them.
His feet shuffle,
Send clouds of dust
in shapeless forms
to either side
and nowhere.
And in the distance somewhere
- he is sure -
lies his home.
So much in so little space
addicted to my device
pouring through small speakers loud
I love to make it shuffle
dancing around to the beat
keeps me going through the day
Digital music is great
Secret kisses smile...
shadows behind rice papered walls,
slow deliberate steps shuffle
upon tatami reed mats that rise and fall,
steamy scents and moans are muffled
as the midnight dance, knows no miles...
Form:
Tucked in the past
Revealed in time
The unseen deck
Shuffling between phases
Waded by fate
Chaperon with audacious dexterity
Whipping the blackness
With strings of grief
Shredding the light
Thanksgiving?
They smile
slowly moving –
slow line shuffle
Tattered garb,
top-scuffed shoes,
weathered hands
grasping plastic plates
awaiting hot portions
of Thanksgiving.

o deck o life
shuffled
cut
and dealt
every second
every day
every moment
of eternity
iI hold my hands
play
my cards
and move on
shuffle
cut
deal
play
and move on
and try to keep
a poker face
Hamford Hog sat on a log
Waiting for Buford Butt
They were headed to Macon
To buy a pound of bacon
Which to me seemed somewhat odd
When they could shuffle up to Boston
Which I’ve done quite often
To pick up a pound of scrod
Ace
Top card
Trumping all
Beats the high King
Into submission
Forcing him down the deck
To acknowledge the lowly
And accept all have their betters
New game begins with different aims
Shuffle serves to level the playing field
