into the tiger claw
that an umber peninsula
juts seaward.
The carnelian bay 
beckons like honey
as I aim
for twilight's tangerine
and sun's waning citrine
in amber haze.
Papaya clouds whipped
by solar winds

 Empty hands and heart left me with none to LOSE
But somewhere southbound, the compass left me LOST

Amber leaves drifting seaward,
floating home downstream to you
where yellow moonbeams dance
upon your windswept shores of blue.

And how I long to gaze
into the depths of your Atlantic eyes,
cool and icy blue,
wouldn't Newman and Sinatra be surprised?

But I'm a million miles away,
drowning in Lelystad rain,
dropping amber leaves into the sea,
wondering when I'll be home again....

Flew forth fast in foamy sprays
All amidst an airy act
Blowing, blasting, beating back
Seeing swarthy, seaward sailing ships
Onward o’er the ocean dips
Upward, downward, driving days
Seeking harbors, havens haste their ways

Calmly coursing comes a breeze
Now softly sailing, slides the ship

within the harbours sanctuary,
its granite arms enclose me safe
and mask the waters stormy face.

Here I am moored in a small life
protected from the gales of strife,
the whispering sounds beyond the walls
I cannot distinguish at all.

Oh from taught chains I would be freed
then unrestrained I’d gather speed
outbound to the expansive sea
the synthesis of liberty....

Round the point 
a ship is sailing
her lost love against
the railing, waving
calling out her name
and yet the wind
blows on the same
blowing seaward
ever onward
ever leaving
just a flicker
of a wavering
dying flame

Ah, sweet friend
this day must end
but none can ever
really mend
what is broken 
in your heart
a simple thing
his simple token
simple words
yet barely spoken
now blow against
the broken door
and lie in fragments
sharp and shining
shining on 
the cold stone floor....

The child played on the shore all day, 
Preferring fortress peace to boat, 
The noon-bright gulls knifed waves of air, 
Blurs in the brief expanse of moat.

One tower rose, a stubby knot, 
The grand gate, scratches on a wall, 
And no bridge spanned the moat at all, 
For sea had cleaned the beach of clay.

In half-light limped a fragment moon, 
As youthful eyes watched waves draw near, 
His stark foot left a seaward ruin, 
That sweeping crests rushed without thought....
