Shadow Leeches
Leeches roam in my shadow,
Sapping away all my dreams into the darkness in which they roam....

The Highest Elevation of Love
The highest elevation of love,
I the soil ever nurturing,
You the stem ever sapping,
And sprouting our love into the sweet rose it is.
Never is it to wither under the bright sun,
Or drown from the rain of these jealous angels above....

Awaiting the Warmth
Before me was spring
sapping away the cold and colorless
an awakening of hope
with promises of tomorrow
seedlings will be scattered by heavens breath
as long buried roots emerge
and ache for a taste of warmth
held hostage by nature’s bitter cold....

Premium Member Loneliness
The turbid octopus
arises from the depths
of the heart,
as from the sea.
The affections were distracted
a day before, laughing,
and dreams, sensing danger,
steered around the hollow,
as a snorkeler avoids
a treacherous shelf.
But the monster,
often stronger,
becomes more intense,
sapping life and hope,
immobilizing its prey....

I Wish In Word's World
I wish I could write in... light,
tracing the tenderness of twilight,
sapping the soothing sunlight,
to draw from the day's dazzling delight,
and the nifty norms of every novelty
night.

Oh that I could bank on beauty!
selling the skies' stuning sanctity,
flaunting the flowers' fraternity,
in every romantic rose's reality,
and in every radiant rainbow's rarity....

Tuckered Out
My older self gets tuckered out
Before the night has started.
The energy I used to have
Has quietly departed.

And toss some jet lag in the mix,
Plus days a’broil and sunny,
Add extra-rich vacation food
And I’ll bet lots of money…

That I won’t make it through the day
(Since I’m opposed to napping),
Without a few espresso shots
To boost my pep that’s sapping.

The Trouble with still being active and old
While no one in their right mind,
Would not want to be old and active,
With a mind that is there most of the time.

Actively searching for other people,
Who are also active,
To be active with,
Whose minds are there most of the time,
Can be time consuming,
And energy sapping,
Which leads to napping,
Instead of actively planning,
Adventures that one still finds exciting,
That are good for both body and mind.

Ash
She stood stoically fighting
the disease that crept through
her dry trunk
Sapping her life,
withering her leaves,
leaving her naked limbs
silhouetted against the
summer moon.

Her Roots retracting from the
moist soil
lose their grip on the earth
Until slowly, imperceptibly,
She leans
She falls

Lying in her lost leaves
her resting place accepts her
Embracing her death
with its life
Slowly, imperceptibly
She is subsumed
Until
Under a summer moon
A sapling grows...

Madness Made Real
Love is no more than Madness made real A sapping of one’s sanity A voyage into inanity Of perception of things That don’t truly exist It’s a state of bliss It’s real…we insist! But it’s no more than emotion Set into motion As fleeting and fickle As breath upon glass It’s a wonderful thing When the heart takes wing… But one should remember That This most mystical thing ...Is no more than madness made real!...

To a Friend That Died
To a friend that died
How she cried…

Lamenting on her bed
She never wished this end.
It came as a rude shock
At a time on a strange clock
Like a dragon-head termite
Sapping all her might.

To God
Such her heart she never lend
Sought a chance to even every
odd
Pleaded her many a angel to
send.
And she breathed her last
Her decayed wore a veil cast

Such way leads beyond
Watch! Death can come at any
second.

Worthy of a praise or a blame
Gone her to claim......

She was hilarious, funny, perky.
Thrilling, lively, exciting and quirky.
Inspiring, frisky, and delightful.
Aspiring, whimsical, and insightful.

We all wanted to be her until drugs
Embraced her, and she dropped us for bad thugs.
Angry, despondent, living in gloom.
A grotesque shell of soul-sapping doom.

Repressed, smothered inside a self-imposed cave,
Depressed, dour, she met an early grave.
Elementary friends hugging in horror.
Hoping she’ll find relief on a distant shore....
