A Musing
I came to note
Just older men dote
Upon my wife,
Arrived at mid-life
With charm and poise,
Aware of the joys
She’s found with me,
Our family tree
Two branches grown
And happiness known
Since salad days
When young men would gaze
With naughty aim,
Green I was her flame....

Standard Issue
Standard Issue,
Seventy-five years,
Standard Issue,
A gallon of tears,
Standard Issue,
A tattered heart,
Standard Issue,
Many a new start
Standard Issue,
Salad days,
Standard Issue,
Old age mental haze,
Standard Issue,
Hope, sweet, sweet hope,
Not so standard,
Enough Faith to cope....

Clay Mates
in reminiscence I recall-
the simple things,the fol-de-rol
the somersaults but most of all
I remember gumby!

for every matinee I'd seen
in salad days when I was green
hats off to the silver screen
I remember gumby!

a royal breed of moral code
a loyal steed to share the load
to whom I dedicate this ode...
I still remember gumby!...

Fruity Wine
The sunny days that warm the Earth
inspiring nature’s glow
with salad days and joyful mirth
and love begins to grow.

The humming of the honey bees
echoes the fruity wine
of jasmine scent upon the breeze
as you said you are mine,

But however the summer ends
the memories remain
as lovers part as closest friends
and autumn falls again....

Haiku Trail :(Inconsistent With Environment)
It is hard and bleak
now, below his tired feet
with the grey above him,

albescent with time
clouds bubble above him there
like an old man’s beard,

though you, his sweet one
are the soft green in between,
bring back salad days,

when you address him
you greet him with such relish
to flavour his life

and so he holds on -
ever in mind as at hand,
leaning on the wind....

My Salad Days
MY SALAD DAYS

I was silly, little stupid
I was naughty, little timid
I was choosy, little crazy
I was fussy, little lazy
I was raw, unpolished
My salad days most cherished
I questioned, I observed
Some Wisdom I gathered
Few mistakes, few lessons
A lifetime experience!

Premium Member In Calm Solitude
minutes steal away
as my thoughts swim in
my mind's placid sea.
in calm solitude
as I recollect...

fun salad days;
my head in the
marshmallow clouds
as I inhale...

the soft breeze.
I grin with
my eyes closed...

letting
it all...

go.

Impromptu
the lettuce
is wilting
let us pray
for salad days

but
so said by Shaw
about gardens
and god

he's in the ground
but digging a bed
isn't the same
as a grave

so she was sown
from seed to sprout
now an heirloom
with an older tune

but still blue bells
toll in a breeze
they toll not for you
not due at least

another season to greet
spring up with the sun
drink down the rain
summer's slumbers

never one to complain
never one to distain
caffeine laughing
Zia Romaine...
