our mama duck is not like the others
the other mamas glide like sailboats
she drags us around faster than a jet ski
because she is a Gemini daddy says

List
On a bright sunny day
The waves of the lake
Rushes to the shore
The children jumps
the waves
Sailboats are in the water
Enjoying to sail
with the wind
Together the sailboats
are one
On the choppy water

each shore was not shallow
I didn't know before
without falling into your eyes
and sailboats would pass
when your eyes laugh
from my deserted coast
believe to my words
I couldn't even breathe
without your eyes

the suns bursting energy
sets off an illumination heat source
as trees slowly drop their leaves
becoming bare-boned
their slender branches
with chipped bark
from ornery squirrels
playfully collecting nuts
across Indian Lake
the water ripples
from oncoming
sailboats
catching the last of falls wind

Rabat is a black pearl
Of cellophanic rainbow
Gazing upon waves that curl
And lick a shore little known.
Gibraltar is the dock
Where it steadfast moors –
Enjoying sailboats that flock
The Mediterranean course
Yet Barbary lions live
Not far, in the Rif Mountains –
Golden, assertive –
Their kasbah amid the grass.

A weekend of solitude in a hotel
standing on the sandy beach
watching sailboats dancing and drifting
in the waves at heels of the harbor
composing a song of island escape
beyond the soothing sunrise
and the gorgeous hibiscus
painting sparkles in the light
like a constellation overlapping in the wind
outpouring a taste of blessings from the heart

Sailboats in blue ocean waves
Swaying through stormy breeze
Dove sailing in that clear blue sky
Like a white silver jets.
Behind that white misty clouds
Was a hidden tiny walls
Covered with dark icy cubes
Is a sad, loner soul.
Teardrops from one soul's eyes
Flowing softly to the deep seas
As it washed pain and sorrows away
Like a cold stormy day.

Flickering stars
vibrate on
the surface of the sea
Fluttering palm trees
sprout out
of the sand
Flying wheel in the sky

A few scattered yellow wood cabins
a swimming pool surrounded by pines
a pier to fish from, a lake not to go in
‘cept for the stinkpots* and sailboats *i.e., motorboats
marshmallow roasts by the campfire at dusk
a ghost story or two to relate
along with the hotdogs and burgers that day
the ghosts evicted whatever we ate

River never sleeps
by the city,
nightlights
highlight
the dance craze faze
of evening party-goers
upon blue waves;
swimmers
sailboats
descend during days.
Time speeds by
as children thrill
yelling
splashing
elation-filled
river walk’s,
shopping sprees
raking in
green dollar bills;
folks enjoying
summer grills,
need tummy pills
by vacation’s end.

march tiptoed embracing joy
daffodils peek, so tulips
clouds float like rainbow sailboats

Verse
The sailboats all line up
For their annual sailing
race
This race always take
place
In the summer season
At the beach called Big Lake
A race like this last one week
Whether rain or shine
This race will continue
All sailboats must return
to start
For the ending of the race
This race gathers a crowd
When coming to shore
The first to reach it
Will be the winner

Sailboats on the river,
Choppers in the sky,
Flowers blazing color -
How fortunate am I!
Butterflies a'flutter,
Painters en plain air,
School kids freed from classrooms
Being silly as they'd dare.
Tourists snap some photos,
Pigeons peck for crumbs,
Sunshine coats the atmosphere;
Anxiety succumbs.
A little slice of Eden
On a Wednesday afternoon
And whenever I must mosey
Will be much much much too soon.

My church is a crystal ribbon of healing sand.
Where land ends -there nests a sky-blue lighthouse.
The turquoise ribbons cooling down the sun splashed land.
Seagulls reciting their verse, pipers sprint about.
Whispers that a child was swallowed by the hag.
Outside the breakers the sailboats dip their bows.
Strangers linking hearts, forming a throbbing chain.
A sea angel was born that day, but I never went back again.

There is a farmfield stretches outward
A red barn with some evergreen trees
Behind the barn a river is flowing
Sometimes sailboats passes and
row boats
The water is clear blue calm
In the grassy field are cows and buffalo
They come to fill their stomach with grass
Then stay out all morning and noon
Enjoying their time outdoors
While the farmer does his chores
Then work that needs to be done
inside the barn

Does anything look more serene
Than sailboats in a harbor scene?
Their stark white jibs and hulls that glide
A sense of peace and calm provide.
I've only seen them from the shore,
Not having been in one before,
But I am grateful they're a'sea
When near the water I can be.
Though other boats with foamy wakes
Look lovely, I would wager stakes
That none of them with sudsy trails
Could soothe like any boat with sails.

HURRICANE
whirlwind of the sea ~
ferocious spinning disc
gaining speed and wrath
the hurricane’s eye
with torrential force of tears
~ winds tortuous strength
wild waves warn the coast
with boats crashing into docks
~ only lunes remain
palms are tested as
coconuts plummet like hail
~ storm assails sailboats
Objects settle wind
to lesser tropical storm ~
sea salt soothes the wounds

When all the world is kelly green
And every plant is lithe and young
When paper sailboats are in streams
One may be sure that spring has sprung
The forests grow dense with leaves
And the trails must again be blazed
Barren winter is but a memory
And the birds chirp songs of praise
When all the world is kelly green
And every plant is lithe and young
When paper sailboats are in streams
One may be sure that spring has sprung.

Seagulls soar
on a whispering west wind.
Waves flow
onto shoreline of white warm sand
and sandcastles grace the beach.
The sun looks down on its worshipers
from a billowing sky of blue and white.
A butterfly lands
on a wooden chair
and children laugh.
Noisy jet skis
powered by gas and testosterone
cleave the pristine sea,
while sailboats lazily drift
like swans on a rural pond.
On a midsummer day,
we drink in the nectar
of a Lake Michigan beach.

Sailboats at Regatta
bob and weave
play and sway
like feathers on the currents of the air
on a springtime morning.
Hand carved champions of the sea
engineered to outsail some other
brothers, friends and fathers all aboard
more than ready.
Hoing through the motions
open ocean bound
toward a blue horizon
and fearless - full of faith, only
in what wind may take them far, fast
as cheerful souls on shore
say goodbye.

Arrested freedom
Seagulls fill the air with joy
anchored sailboats tugs want to be free
sail around the world alone,
as a Japanese fishing vessel did
end up at the coast of Canada.
Alas, caught by the coast guard as it
prepared to sail for Chile and Peru.
Anchored in a lonely bay
waits for her captain to show up.
This slavey of navigation
had been a year of freedom.
Sea gulls fly, sleek bodies white as snow.
A storm is brewing
the ocean is theirs alone.
