A blue marbled sky,
High morn' moon,
Roosters crowing
and chatting chicks,
Listening to cogs
Falling in clicks.
Roosters crow
Cock-a-doodle-do
Crickets hum
Jimminey
An eighteen wheeler heads out
Voices drowned out
A woodpecker pecks
The sound resonates around
Aluminum pole
Fiercely crows disturbed roosters
All sound waves combine
Pastel pink sunrise
Reveals thick damp morning fog
Roosters in chorus
One lead rooster sings loudest
"Ode To Joy" others sing parts
The Sound of Crowing
The Wakeup Call of Roosters
Or The Voice of Praise?

original haiku traditional form of 5/7/5/.
Slept in this morning what a treat
Roosters have crowed I've gone back to sleep
Hens have laid eggs
Pain in my legs
Haven't adjusted to the morning drumbeat
The sounds of roosters' crow
Give a hint for a new dawn
Where the dark of yesterday could be put behind
For a new sunrise has come

I own a rooster
live on a farm
the animals vote
I am simply caretaker
Under my farm
there is a huge bunker
a thousand men in uniform
systems, equipment and missiles
I am simply caretaker
Birds Of A Different Feather
(Feather Pen...Ink. Tanka)
She's like that hen,
peacocking her bouncy tail;
proudly strutting it:
Both strutting the same purpose;
but different roosters sought:-
Prancing purple polliwogs playing prissily
Querying querulous quail quite quietly
Reviving romantic roosters respectfully
Sassy swooning swans sighted saucily
Tempting tenuous trickster trout tastefully
A holy cross
On my arm
The tattoo itches
Not unlike bee stings
So superfluous
Am I
Dying on
Living still but
No pain for ills
It’s a wonderous thing
This being bird on wing
Fly on, fly on
Until roosters sing
Roosters squawk
Birds kee who
Jet plane roars overhead
Temporarily taking the stage
Tomorrow rain will come
Today it is just me and the outside
Almost silent
Roosters squawk
A lone car horn
Hilarious for no good reason.
motorcycle buzz
crowing roosters
barking dog
humming of tractor
gentle wind chime
tweeting bird
jet going somewhere
kitty cat whine
blowing leaf
March in midday
temperature sixty-seven
satisfaction
country living
Count your chickens after they hatch
Try to locate a pair that match --
Ten roosters and one hen are no catch,
You'll need to raise another batch!

The glass is always full-Rooster's A Crowing
On a garden bed
consumed hens undress wry smiles
to the roosters crow
connie pachecho

.
The sighing pines sway
Clouds fly high and play
LeLand Cypress moves
But the oak crackles
And it does not groove
Roosters silence
Somewhat eerie
While ghostly limbs
Of pecan blow
Winter yet
Spring like still
Fickled time
Rejoice
Enjoy
Pause
awakened by sounds
of roosters crowing—
a dog barks
yawned, cloudy skies
seen thru windows
birds chirping
coffee is ready
things to do—
they can wait

bells peeling loudly
red dray gracious in tree tops
while blue jays frame the shot
pure crystal stars shine
translucent hues lighten sky
black water glinting
Fat cat drinking milk
roosters square up feathers fly
cow steps over wall
Striated gray and deep pink sky
Fiery red sun rises
As roosters' breath fogs with each crow
And floats with surprises
As cold surrounds every shrub's leaf
An open door sun greets
Another day's blessing a gift
A soul who now's at peace
Looking East pines dark
Silhouetted by
Early sun rising
In distance light fog
Settles on creek, trees
Sun slowly rises
Scene changes now
Roosters crow greets
The rising sun
Whispy cloud
Goes from gray

“As senior rooster ’round here, it’s my duty, and my pleasure, to instruct junior roosters in the ancient art of roostery” ~Foghorn Leghorn
Foghorn Leghorn
didn't need a bullhorn,
he had an egotist's way
of saying what he had to say.
Rain With Fog
Drip, drip, dripping oak leaves like funnels
Carry fog’s cool moisture downward to rest
Caw, caw travels slowly does not scuttle
Roosters seem assured by this heavy air test
As their cock-a-doodle-dos carry from the hollow best
(A) A gray cloudy morn
(B) Beautiful sounds surround
(C) Cool damp air flows
(D) Delightful time
The wonderful sounds delivered by excited roosters, Mockingbirds, and Hoot Owls float to my waiting ears..

The happy crowing roosters are delighted, excited and proud to be awake.
My annoyed dog not so much. She growls when the light comes on, hides her eyes,
And bares her teeth.
I choose my day accordingly. A rooster today or the dog? My attitude is up to me.
Frost has tinged the Japanese Maple
Turning its leaves to burgundy red
Pears lie upon the ground not staple
As roosters rise nosily from bed
Nice on the porch at sunrise
Feeling the November cold
Hear birds chirp tales so wise
Mocking tale was a surprise and bold
