Premium Member Lollygagging Lily Pads
Lily pads lollygagged in lovely repose
I wish I had their water lamented a rose
But then you would drowned answered lily from her cot.
I had not thought of that, she said, rethinking her thought....

Premium Member Bird of Prey At Work
I am a bird of prey at work
Consider myself head of the food chain
Keep it to myself of course

I fly off before my talons rip or tear
shredding my coworkers into rethinking
I am proud to be a no-kill predator

Here comes one of the baby birds now
She flits around, tweeting and trilling
I hold myself back...

Listen to poem:
Moon & Sun
David J Walker

Sleepless
nameless
The strangeness of life

Seamless
Dauntless

A man
	A wife
And a child named

For the course of time
	Yet to come

In the tallied sum
of giving
	of taking
Of rethinking
	Of remaking

The meaning of
Outcome

One child born to
Become
The moon
The other
	The sun...

Love
Love overpowers all negativity others spew
The mouth tries to describe its amazingness but is unable to follow through
Throbs from heart become unbearable
Unlike any feeling you have ever encountered
With all of its graciousness, love can burn like the fire within the lowest level of hell
Leaving you rethinking everything about its mythos...

The Napkin
God took a vacation
when time had run out
Rethinking his opus
replanning devout

His Angels in limbo
the devil on leave
Heaven a sublet
sin now reprieved

Faith worn and tattered
the bible debunked
Crusades a bad memory
the Grail marked as junk

He orders a cocktail
the waitress comes back
A napkin — her number
salvation highjacked

(The New Room: December, 2023)

Premium Member Living the dream
Dreams in my head won’t go away
But they also can’t stay
As they distract me
From today

So I’ll anchor
Myself to present day
Pulling forward tomorrow
To see right now in a new way

Rethinking my view to recognize
What I've been searching for
May already exist and be
Waiting at my door

Took some time
To reframe my mind
For me to gain awareness
Of spots that used to be blind...

Sticky Notes
As your memory begins to slow
You write little notes to yourself
Don’t forget to pick up the laundry
And thaw out a meal for tonight.

I know I wrote a reminder
On that little yellow note pad
I stuck it in a special place
And now it’s missing, oh egad!

So the laundry is still waiting
Tonight’s dinner is still freezing
I think depending on these notes
Needs some serious rethinking....

Clausterphobia
Craving air and freedom
Losing my mind in the enclosed space
Allowing darkness to numb away the anxiety
Undeniable sadness and fear
Slowly seeping into my mind
Tear ducts filling up
Entrenched by my own stupidity
Rethinking my choice of path
Praying to be heard and saved
Having to give up the darkness
Or face this fear
Believing that only my faith in God
Is worth this journey
Amen....

Premium Member rethinking his naps now
Santa’s sleigh house is his latest invention
If he needs a quick nap, his reindeer can keep the flight going
But he can crawl in the back and slumber a bit
This idea has been in the works for a long time
He can barely wait to see if it works
The reindeer stop for a little potty break
Long enough! Santa says.
Now they are eating M and Ms off a roof
We need to get going! He says
Rethinking his naps now...

A Poet and the Universe
Unveil, you poet, shrouded mind,
do not console with baits of youth!
Keep on rethinking all the time
to get the very gist of truth!

And if the Universe is destined
sometime to yawn with hellish darkness
and in a flash to turn the planet
an` all the living things to dust.

Will perish poet’s thought or not?
Will bring it him to other worlds?
So that to other shores could float
in finding sense and too good forms....

Pretending Isn'T Always Easy
she calls
long pause
hesitation
before
she speaks

the silence
breaks
her voice
quakes
i taste
her tears
feel
her fears

on this end
of the line
her hope
hangs
on my words
scattered
jumbled
little lies
pretending
not to worry
i scurry
around
idle chatter
carefully
rethinking
my next line
trying to feed her
the reassurance
she seeks

i feel failure
in the allure
of tears
as they fall
when she ends
this call...

Premium Member Rain Cry- -
I used to cry at the littlest of things; Upon rethinking this what does it really bring; Mystic Misty rather cloudy rays; My tears flow down my face; Like a raging storm amidst the suns glaze; Down flows on downflo unto my intimate space; And wash emotions tumbling toil; And my shame I pain And my dysfunction I remain; In my heart distance Oh I I stand here in sin crying it's still in the rain;

Wind circulates, lifting and flattening
an otherwise, benign, breathless world,
relying also on deeper, slowly moving
tectonics, belching foully, scattering
seas...effecting change. Seasons like Sun
rejoice and fold. An occasional comet or
meteor perhaps a compassionate
God-sent, heaven rethinking the dawdling
pace of destiny…. Man a defiant offspring,
rejecting patterns seemingly not of his own
making – good angels know better, dutifully
soothingly serving....
