A Mother's Love
A mother's love is like a stream
that quells the cry of a broken dream.

Ripples
Scorched
By gloom
On burnt dunes,
A rippling curve
Of fresh oasis quells my arid heart.

What Quells the Pain
57
Completing
The page
Quells the rage
At the courts
Misunderstanding
And unfair bail
But on we go
A train
Off
The rails
Digging in
Asphalt and
Concrete
Right down
Main street
In the summers
Rain does so
Much for
The pain...

Sound of the Spheres
Sound is the music in my ears,
a magic symphony of spheres.
It calms and quells my greatest fears.
It can bring tears. It can bring tears.
An orchestra, in its full sound,
causes my heart to leap and bound;
Releases my soul from the ground
and joys abound and joys abound....

Lea of Thought
Horizon of knelling bells
Adequate feeling bestowed
Hue, odor, sound, sensation
Harmoniously dwell
Tangible gnosticism
Catharsis
Potency yells
Largess
Ample satisfaction
Darkness, Thy power quells

Calm of Waters
clear
waters
ripple down
like lace finery-
circling hedges bathed by sprays of pearled mist
how waves' rhythmic symphony grants relief
as gush of calm
quells pained soul--
healing

Anxiety Like a Beat
12
Anxiety
Like a beat
Under the stairs
Quells no fears
And brings
My childhood face
To tears
When home
Is no longer
A haven
For my head
For my head
Feels uneven
(someone else
Up around the bend)

Power of Light
Power of light, darkness dispels
As bliss mist, we’re immune
Tender divine caress fear quells
Heart sings the divine tune
Hold steady faith, dear soul
With God within, we’re whole
Love and light, our sole goal
Our souls delight
Power of light

Land of the Lemon-Trees
I know the land where the lemon-trees flower
Where dew-drops shower
On the pure lily-flowers!
There flows a glistening life-giving river
On each wave a sliver
Of light that delivers
Glorious warmth that quells trepid heart-aches
Every eve a dawn-break
Every breath a keepsake.
Do you know the land where the lemon-trees flower?...

When He Lies Down
Rotting thoughts,
Decaying with a vile stench-
In the corners of his cranium,
He sees,
It means null to win,
On the contrary sir,
You must re-enter society some day,
Wills thrown aside,
He masks himself from all that is rational,
He must ration the air in his lungs,
It quells the blood seeping from every orifice,
When he lies down....

Classroom Debate
Despite the noise of harsh and loud debate
Rhyme nor reason quells the argument
Nor breaks the smothery sounds of temper flair,
And dares dispute the platform proudly sworn
By proof he wrests the premise by degrees
The scholar wins the highest trophy earned.

Days of Sunless
Days of sunless set the less of soul
Life in madness round a black of hole
Fog upon a bank where darkness quells
Drowning out the sense, amid a world of wishing wells
Bottomless depths within fathomless deeps
Endless torments, end in murky keeps
And all too quick, sands falling lost and fast
Grasping hands, slipping slowly further into black...

Mighty As Mountains
Two sets of three words each
Each sets forces in motion
Mighty as mountains, vast as the ocean
The first set, "I give up"
All momentum it quells
The future, disrupts
The other, "I love you"
Walks you out on a limb
Your destiny magical; alternatively, grim
Utter these three words with the utmost care
Never with a wing; always with a prayer...

6 To 8 - Melody of Sadness
The raven’s cry bellows with twilight’s grip
Echoing the staggered throb of a dirge;
Where grief’s murmurings become unheard
Down the walkway of crushed expectations.
A strained lullaby becomes incoherent amidst wreaths
As a young mother quells a song for her child,
Interred through the icy pause of birds’ refrain, ebbing.

The Vagaries of Mind
My mind wanders here and there,
It has no bounds or limitations,
It keeps on thinking,
Various thoughts,
Sometimes ridiculous and at times,
Crazy and idiotic,
It quells my sleep,
And bothers my peace,
I seek solace in prayer and meditation,
Which gives me temporary ease;
The erratic thoughts come back,
To me, with incessant worries,
Which sap my energies,
And keep me hankering for serenity....

Invention
To sacrifice my time of fate,
inventors urging's commonplace,
the nudge ~ inviolate, but grace,
invention seems to win the race!
That stark inviting quells replace
Lord, nothing else give me to case
this being my worthwhile, my space
and ne'er refusings' stymied trace!
The idea thriving, wholeness ace
at last surviving, millions pace!
I am Invention ~ no escape
Necessities remaining . . . chase!...

Be To Become
Our void centric soul
knows it's always whole,
so no urge remains
to break free from chains.
Feel bliss beats assuage
fear forms on rampage,
that tend to arise
when we weigh and size.
Choice of cessation
quells oscillation
of our fickle heart,
adding love to cart.
Head and heart love inked,
our soul's with God linked.
Fulfilling life's aim,
we become the flame.

Death Never Quells
Through age and infirmity,
my voice cries loud
With feelings still timeless,
eyes not to cloud
The Reaper waits patient,
his claim has been filed
From outside he savors,
inside I smile
The music has changed,
with my heart still in step
My vision most clear,
no lens to correct
As days take their toll,
on what’s left of this shell
What spirit embodies,
—death never quells

The Wrong Grave
A terrifying ordeal,
Not only is my mentor gone,
My lovely Rosie,
No longer does this grandmother’s;
Heart beat,
Tears have flooded my evenings,
Heartache captures my soul,
Day by day,
Improve,
Update letters,
Left at the proper sight,
Whilst time of daylight,
Quells the pain within,
My medium moves me,
To succeed and move on,
Achieve all that my Nonny,
Would have desired me to,
So I push onward toward my dreams,
I no longer feel the need to scream....

Lackluster Shellacking
Listen to poem:
Feeling sluggish, shelled.
Lithely lingering in the dust and grime.
Palette grey and dull, devoid of crisp bright hues,
Brushes all furry, frayed, blunt, incapable of fine detail.
Apathy and complacency palls to gloom and doom in my room.
Inactivity and being non-committal, chokes the creative urge, to be stillborn.
But then, words and poetry flood into the brain during sleepless nights.
There's no stopping it.
Its spell, dispels the squashes, and quells the squishes to splats....
