October
Jack’O Lanterns
Witch hats and warlocks
Masks on babies
Autumn skies
Costumes
Fall
clouds brightly orange
Flowing in slices they spread
On the vast skies wide
*Kid inspired *
Wood nymphs flittering;
All faerie wood emblazon;
Day lends length to night,
Impish pumpkins flicker winks;
As cats creep shadowed black.
AUTUMNAL DELIGHTS
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
leaf-covered sidewalks
pumpkins ready to harvest
gourds covered in frost
A set of pumpkins
One atop of the other
Each with a letter
And spelling out the word boo
Lovely seasonal décor
Russell Sivey
Healthy food is fall’s fresh gift.
Pumpkins and pecans
Tempting taste buds, one and all.
Pies, breads, casseroles
Calories added –
Yummy taste
October drifts on Autumn's breeze.
Russet leaves adorn maple trees.
Month of lovely weather
when we are together,
carving scary pumpkins... Oh, geeze!
I have twenty-two
Ready and willing pumpkins
Waiting for the time
Of all hallows eve coming
Doing Jack-O-Lantern thing
Russell Sivey
It’s hallowe’en,
Kids are trick or treating,
Dressed as pirates, ghosts,
And many other things,
With pumpkins as lanterns,
Lighting their way.
Keep away the my pumpkins please
Or they’ll have you down on your knees
They’ll bite off your flesh
Then turn you to mesh
You’ll look like a walking disease
On my dark dresser
I have some fun for season
I have lit pumpkins
Some evil looking pumpkins
Great Jack-O-Lanterns tonight
Russell Sivey
Fat, oblong, rotund, roly poly
elongated, flawed, stubby,
dented, dusty, malformed
oranges globes - scattered
helter skelter - in rows
of farmers' fields...
Form:
fields of pumpkins wait
wanting to be the chosen one
halloween faces
aspiring artists
delight with ghoulish wonder
candles flickering
A fall ensemble
Autumn leaves, tiny pumpkins
Straw layered within
Bronze stars floating high above
Witch’s hat, dynamic piece
Russell Sivey
Two pumpkins might be too many
Too many for Jack-O-Lantern fun
~On Halloween~
A Pumpkin Head, Tipsy it is,
Halloween To Be Un seen Pumpkins
Dressed in costume, Tune of Pumpkins
A Rhyming scheme from a dancing
Pumpkin King
At autumn harvest
Pumpkins used to show season
Surrounded by garland
Some are carved with light inside
To signify joy of times
Russell Sivey
painted leaves abet
oak attacks: acorns,
tripping me up as
illegal fires smoke
rotting pumpkins
under fake blue skies
white sunshine
beating down
the cold
I
mystery in seeds:
real to me, small, flat gourd seed
now, shoots at window smile
II
Flat white seed planted
a meter from window
three weeks: hi from window
Autumn
beautiful, nostalgic
chilling, harvesting, coloring
halloween, pumpkins, flowers, green
chirping, buzzing changing
lusty, fragrant
Spring
Pumpkins in stairwell
I follow them down the steps
Each has eerie glow
From the small candle within
Lighting up its soul on fire
Russell Sivey
Group of creepy trees
All located within a grove
Each have glowing eyes
Who worship deadly pumpkins
Some evil grinning red gourds
Russell Sivey
Happy pumpkins
Apple dumplings
Licorice sticks
Lollipops to lick
Owls hooting
Witches looting
Emerald city dreams
Every Halloween
Needling together fun things
I
one seed, so wise
to hide generations of pumpkins
forest of leaves
II
wisdom in tendrils, leaves
spread out - small garden -
blind tendrils grasp non-leaves
Could you imagine
Pathway filled with lit pumpkins
Beauty to behold
Light fills surface around it
With carved pumpkins hanging there
