Cornered in a vulnerable position;
kicked and pummeled into submission.
That mad horse had its way,
I lay dazed on the hay,
but am found in a stable condition.

I updated my new cellular phone
With "Bat Out of Hell" as its new ringtone
When it went off at mass
I let out a huge gasp
Then I pummeled my new phone with a stone

raindrops chatter on the rooftop
mocking this saddened heart
pummeled with the rhythm of woe

pillow pinched, plumped, plopped
pummeled, punched, flattened, flopped, dropped
at long last got up

That complete lack of moisturizer
as the wind blew out of control.
Pummeled down to the ground,
chapped chaos kissed my lips.
Supple skin dried out
with one swift gust.
Left starving
to get
soft.

Do you find yourself
under those stones that you’ve thrown
Pummeled with self-hatred
forever alone
Looking up in delirium
Goliath parades
Blinding your vision
—a gravesite charade

the public thoroughfare
pummeled, profaned
verbal fists rumble from
amped-up throats...
a generation or two
with nothing better to do
than scream at the intersection
of decline and decay

If I turn on the TV news, they’re talking about Trump
If I go to my computer, umpteen pictures of the Dumpf
If I go to a party everyone’s talking about the Donald
I am sick and tired of being Donald Trump pummeled!

Strange how
the artist and nature
are at odds--
I would portrait
every moment,
while her broader brush
is one of constant change;
I pause,
listening to wind's
rolling crackle,
the pummeled leaves,
thrashing branches
on weathered eaves--
snapshots of
my defiance....

my life found in pain ransomed for a pen but never eager in pain.
Always grateful when in pain,
never will I pain.
Because I am grateful for my stance.
Am going where I know but I know not where I go for my life won't be in chance pummeled in my face but that was only because of chance.

Dramatic Monologue
A gentle surf ruffles cold sand
They sit reveling in its scent
Shivering in its distant breezes
Sharing a memory of valor
Pummeled by an angry sea
Riding the curling troughs
Crabs plays hide and seek
Beneath their weathered forms
Seagulls shriek in frustration
They sit
Preserved by an ocean’s need
To remember

Do Not Fall Down
Falling down, simply terrific
for the young!
For the elderly, no, as our springs have
indeed, been totally, sprung.
I took a big spill on Halloween,
And now I am known as the Poetess
ala Wheelchair Queen?
Feel like I finished a boxing round with
Mike Tyson.
Me, a pummeled, poetic. baby byson!

Memories haunt me,
Lurking, taunting,
Tainting each and every day,
Flashbacks,
Of not being good enough,
Forever wrong, unwanted,
Being pummeled, choked, threatened,
Cursed at,
And myself crying in the dark,
Ever since I was young,
I have had a broken heart,
Because it was my own blood,
Who constantly tore me apart,
Due to alcohol, anger, and insanity,
I will never truly like me.

Through the opened orifice
of humanities consciousness,
the whirling, whirring, rush of rain;
tumults round the asphalts plane.
Spritzing, spreading, shrieking, zing…
the staccato sounds of wet spring;
the tinkling chimes, the brass banter
the clop of clogs, children canter.
All the sizzle of an oiled pan.
All the sparkle of dew on land.
All pummeled, a peonies pain,
the soundless swirl petals, drain.

a rose is a rose
though bent by the spiteful wind
some petals are lost
its fragrance has not lessened
beauty changes but remains
its essence the same
yet overlooked, you pass by
touching another
perfection your objective
you forget time's truthfulness
beauty is fleeting
roses were not meant to last
yet this bleeding rose
pummeled and bent, almost crushed
offers you the sweeter scent

A froth of turquoise topped waves
pummeled the lava stone
grinding asphalt-black slabs into bits which hugged the waters edge.
Skeletal shards of white coral were scattered
amongst the dried, scorched after birth.
Relentlessly, the ocean pounded
leapt with a jet-engine roar into the air.
Balancing droplets of salt water
upon lichen covered shelves and prominences of pitchy rock
Growth in the cauldron of the Crone.

The rain dashed itself against the asphalt.
Angled, silver, shards, pummeled the pavement,
Pelted puddles in a staccato rhythm.
Rapidly expanding and contracting circles,
Cha cha-ed to the sound of castanets.
Drain grills gaped and filled gurgling.
Geysers erupted from the centrifugal spin of tires.
The din of tin-tapped metal brightened the air.
And with the lushness of life and rebirth;
A spring day dawned.

Beneath my feet
Erode these blue granite mountains
Pummeled by rain and wind with hail and sleet
Forming creeks and fountains
Into a crumbling of three hundred million years -
A process so slow that no human sees or hears
Or understands the flowing tears
Which mark the beauty of crumbling as bittersweet

Soul Awakening
Wrapped in your arms
My soul awakened
From a long dark sleep
My heart is now alive
No more do I weep
My lover’s smile
So tender and true
A sweet ray of God’s sunshine
Lead me to you
Blissful now
Content somehow
Where once my heart
Was pummeled
And pounded
No more do I fear
Love sounds
Sounded…
Love is now all that I hear
So hold me close
My darling one
With you by my side
All fear is gone….

Prose Poetry
Magnificent is this island,
Pummeled by the waves,
A forest of twisted trees flow to the island edge,
Rocks heavy with iron fall in to the abyss,
To the darkness below,
Darkness hides walls dripping like wax,
Standing water leads to a grotto filled with chambers,
On the walls pictograms to be deciphered to find untold riches,
Left by pirates in the golden age,
In the chamber X marked the spot,
Plunder stacked high a light in the dark

Earth, water, metal, sky...
pummeled into submission.
Decay, refuse, side by side,
ground into submission.
Once pristine mountains ranged high;
while wild horses went flying by
ridden by Mongols 'neath starry skies
now, whipped into submission.
Rivers hemmed, tortured, bound;
green trees, now sickened, brown;
bare, skeletal, barren dry;
cringing 'neath soot filled skies....
All the grandeur now cries
ground into submission.

Boxing heavyweight king, Muhammad Ali,
was quick and strong, but also used psychology.
He'd let himself get pummeled, giving foes false hope -
like to George Foreman in Manila, his first "rope-a-dope."
*Rope a dope is a technique that Ali perfected when he
beat George Foreman. By just taking a beating to his
stomach as he leaned back into the ropes of the boxing
ring and letting the ropes absorb the force of those
blows, he was able to tire Foreman out and then let
him have it!!!

Self is important; too much "self" is as SELFISH as cancer
Everywhere, self-help gurus and coaches help us do better
Lest we give up especially when young, pummeled by "disgrace" -
Freedom is desirable through education - holistic of course
I am not responsible enough to be the most important "self" around
So much misery is caused by leaders and thinkers who hate limits
Holy Spirit is here to help. But we coexist with many spirits.
