He Sees You Not
His beefy heartiness is a cheerful note,
but one that cannot be sustained for too long.
Anyone he greets
is pummeled into a certain shape
by his fractured perception.
He squirrels you away behind
a blindfolded mind,
where you must
live among other squirrels,
and made to peer at his comings and goings
from a secret cage behind his eyes.
