The anguish I feel in winter
came from the times of slavery
the pity I felt when I saw
black people sweating for life
on the other side of the Atlantic...
came... from the pain I felt,
but I didn't live... banzo
of the afro of the coffee plantations
in the Minas Gerais  life......

Their blisters 
and cracked lips 
can only be imagined; 
in dire thirst 
and wants,
came those starving seasons
to strip them of pride 
and heritage.
Bound in chains 
across storming seas, 
however they survived
in those plantations,

they reaped so dearly
from man’s inhumanity....

Down on the pillow
Soon to grow again
Longer
Between barber visits
Oh those CUTE curls
Or straight lines
Getting in slit eyes
Combing the Earth's
Thick plantations.
Later
In the looking glass
Thinner
The mirror cracks
But then
Who wants fat hair
Clogging the drains
Of the Solar System?

does not live in soil
bowl of animals it lives not
it cannot be in a cage
left loose, free to roam
it eats big bulls
even lions it chews quickly
elephants are too small
plantations collapse at a strike
whole nation it destroys
de-worming tablets are nothing
they make it fatter,  tougher
fire brigade is only solution...
