A funeral scene

                            pigtails of the rainbow light

                                               lose all its colors!...

Pina colada?
Pinky said sure.
Pinafore dressed
She looked truly pure.

Pin curls and pinballs.
Pinky provided proof
Pigtails non-withstanding
She was an odd little poof....

Premium Member Loopdah Plane a Carnival Memory
sixties memories
home town, Iowa
I was just a kid
riding upside down
on a loop-da-plane

4th of July
carnival ride
my pigtails fly
upside down sky

loving it
fuzzy blurs
screaming now

joyful
thrilling

fun...

To Christine, 1972
Hotpants showing off tanned legs
as long as a June school day

Blonde pigtails framing wide eyes,
bluer than Peruvian opals

Cherry lips freeing sly smiles
that gleamed on those dark nights

Eager heart sharing ill fated love
with this lucky, grateful lover...

First Kiss
When Jimmy ate the paste,
there was a smile on Susan's face
Her pigtails he wanted to pull,
but the teacher had rules.
Recess came with a ding and a dong,
Susan then followed Jimmy alone.
His face turned red as she pecked his cheek,
This was Jimmy’s first kiss....

Winning Fairly
The judges took me to the side,
whispering softly “You've gotten them
all right, but you cannot win everything.
It isn't fair to the other children.”

I rolled my eyes and pulled on
my pigtails. If I had won them
all, I should get them all. Adults
are so silly in their concepts of fair....

Sparkling little star, So much you warm my heart, A little girl in pigtails Made of sugar and spice, But enticed with snails and mice And puppy-dog wagtails When you sing you bring happiness to my heart So sweet you are my brightest little star By: Eve Roper 8/28/2015

Premium Member Petunia Days
Morning tumbles into my arms,
I give a gentle hug,
Smooth down
Her long gauzy dress,
Run my fingers through her rays
And braid sweet pea tendrils in blond pigtails.

Lifting up her quivering chin
I gaze into sapphire eyes,
Drawl encouraging morning words:
“Good” and “glory”,
“Dove”,
And she embraces the petunia day....

New Girl

Lemmie Jimmie is a playa!
Look at him smiling,
walking with his new girl
Why are the other pigtails all hating
on LJ being so happy ...
‘cause he caught the eye of the new girl
Watch Leonard James
affectionately always playing
with his favorite new baby girl
He a playa for sho’ ...
his high school sweetheart wife
oughta know...

Premium Member Nothing
She smells like nothing
To the whole world
Tattered dress ripped leggings
Pigtails on the sad girl
No one sees her face
She slinks around
All hopes and dreams
Shattered no fortunes found
Onlookers judge her dirty clothes
Unrecognizable the sweet
Child of nobody and no one
Raised in the street
She smells like nothing
To the whole world...

My Teenage Daughter
I've watched her grow from pigtails to makeup, from crayons to dressup.
From playdates to real dates. How can this be, suddenly she's turned into miss popularity.
Prom dresses and pictures tears and confusion, was her just being a little sweet girl just an
illusion? Suddenly i have become unpopular with her and popular with Dr. phil now i'm
thinking i need to get my daugther on the pill....

Premium Member No That Is Not It
Her ginger pigtails remind me of something he says.
I stare at him. They are like Pippi Longstocking, I reply.
No, that’s not it.
Yes, it is I think.
I think it was someone on Tik Tock.
Pretending to be Pippi Longstocking I interject.
Not even close, he replies.
I stop trying.
Knowing his mind is closed
Or maybe he is too young to know
Where these pigtails originated
Back in the forties....

National Hair Day
It’s National Hair Day - raise a comb!
Shake your tresses - write a poem!
Whether blonde, brunette or red,
Let’s celebrate what’s on your head.

Curly, wavy, frizzy, straight,
Pigtails or a single plait,
Buzz cut, Mohawk, updo, ‘fro,
Messy or arranged just so.

How we look, what gives us flair
Depends, in part, upon our hair.
No matter what your style is called
It’s yours to flaunt - unless you’re bald!...

My Girl
MY GIRL

Lazy summer days
Pigtails, French braids
Long silky hair blowing
In the wind
Days forever gone
Tears well up in my eyes
And I long once again
To hold her close
To see her smile
To hear her laughter
Tinkle like rain

Lord, shower down from heaven
Encouraging words of
Together we will be
In that glorious place
A world without pain
Hearts completely healed
Memories of yesterday
Live on today
Hope of a tomorrow
Full of promise

mja...

Ponytail
I haven't had a ponytail
Since I was very young
And even then, most likely,
Into braids my hair was hung.

When frizz set in, I chopped my locks
And thus the die was cast,
So ponytails and pigtails were
A remnant of the past.

But when I see a jogger
With her ponytail a'bounce,
Its jaunty whipping of the air
Seems like it does announce:

Just check me out! I'm oh, so cool
And confident and fit.
So feast your jealous eyes -
I'm the epitome of IT!...

Pigtails Against the World
A black dress draped off me

Flowing with the wind

Following the crowd

Roses clutched in my hands

Alone in the crowd I stood

No one bothered to watch me

Not passing most of their hips

I was invisible

Fixing my pigtails I watched her go down

Six feet down

No hands held my shaking wrists

Tears streamed without a mother's kiss

Shoulders hunched over without a father's hug

Seven years old

Too young to be at a funeral

At a funeral alone...

Oh the heart tears.
It beats and throbs.
Well springs of light lanterns
Weave and bob.

Still, darkened grime rimed
portals glare,
sad, empty-eyed adults stare.
Oh the heart tears.
Its pulse expands.

Forced back;
dark dwellers disband.
Replaced by children’s crimson cheeks;
lollipops, pigtails, skipping feet.

Small hearts, so precious,
small hands so bold;
reaching out the world to hold.

Oh the heart weeps, it weeps for joy,
but only for one girl or boy....

Premium Member Round
From my very first moment I was "round"
Easily verified by pictures found

Such an adorable little lass
Even though having some extra mass

Having dimples here and dimples there
Always sporting pigtails in my hair

My sweet face a perfect little ball
Unfortunately, I was not so very tall

 Never met a person I didn't like
Always such an engaging little tyke

To be a pudgy princess was my plight
Now, happily" round" in places right

For the Baby-Boo contest..lol...
