Like Yesterday

Your name was spoken,
overheard on a phone call.
I came to see you,

clicked, chatted, like yesterday.

A Winning Phone Call

A lonely young girl from Rome
Talked all day on the phone,
She wanted a friend
To put her boredom to end,
That night she wasn't alone.

Sunny blue skies wave me farewell
Into my domicile to take a phone call

Back out on the porch as soon as I can
Starry skies greet me in a conversation's span

Premium Member That's My Crime

If love is a prison then I’m doin’ my time
I don’t need a phone call, I don’t need a dime
If passion is a lock up, then throw away the key
I love you too much, that’s my crime…

I wish I could be a fly on the wall,

When my poor old mother gets the phone call,

Your husband just got in a brawl”

It's pretty important
to know the difference
between squire and square.

Mayor and mare
there and their
fair and fare.

Lust and lost
Cussed and cost
Bust and bossed

Depends on the pronunciation, don't it?

A phone call makes all of it real.

Long That I Retired

Cross legged,
in his bowed legs,
with determination,
in between them,
he had flagged,
and jagged,
no more efforts,
or trials,
it was just a phone call,
the single phone dial,
that he made to God,
and said ,Lord I am tired,
and it is long that I retired.

Silence

The phone call doesn't happen
and you realise it never will,

things left unsaid a shattering silence
that I need to withstand.

Another days dawn with rays so bright
bird song overpowered with emptiness and a need to share,
a shattering silence unable to bear.

Santa will come and we will joke.
Wearing our masks, as we are cautious folk.
Husband I will sit around the tree,
Imagining grandchildren, sitting on our knee.
A phone call may come in from Nebraska and Ohio.
Safely sheltered in place, in this land of ice and snow.

Premium Member Help!

Help! I dropped my phone down the loo
What can be done? what shall I do?
Stick my hand deep into the pan
I pull and tug the best I can
Call a plumber or call a friend?
Can't do that, phone's stuck in the bend
Out I go to buy a new phone
Call a plumber when I get home.

Heart Breaks

This is it, the ache
the moment where a heart breaks,
that dreaded phone call on the wire
 the words that emit
the loss of life's intense fire,

God's most precious gift
 in the pounding pulse dismissed
of this old heart of hearts
tears and regret that we are
forever apart.

Premium Member Now It Has

Life is great. Life is grand.
Things are happening and she is bobbing to the music
Her feet are prancing.
Her heart is dancing.
How could things get better?
BAM!
One phone call
Annihilates every bit of joy.
Gun violence.
She never expected it to reach her family.
But now it has.

Premium Member Unwanted Phone Call

Ivan, Cliff's friend, was on the line.
"Cliff is in the hospital, come at once."
"What happened?" I asked, knowing I didn't want to know.
"Just get up here." He sounded angry.

"A Remembered Day"

Tomorrow,Today,Yesterday

TOMMORROW I RECEIVED YOUR PHONE CALL,
TODAY I MISSED YOUR PHONE CALL,
YESTERDAY YOU DID'NT CALL,

TOMORROW I MISSED YOUR CALL,
TODAY YOU DID'NT CALL,
YESTERDAY I RECEIVED YOUR CALL,
FOR ALL THESE'S TOMORROW'S, TODAY'S,
AND YESTERDAY'S
WHICH DAY SHOULD I AND SHOULD'NT
WAIT BY THE PHONE FOR YOUR CALL?

A Phone Call Away

As I picked up the phone
And listened to the ringing tone -

A voice penetrated the darkness of my soul
A soothing charm and realization
Becomes a verbal dance of seduction
Every word a new connection
Ending our conversation in anticipation

    Two unlikely minds in synchrony
Immediately fallen.
