Heart Breaks
This is it, the ache
the moment where a heart breaks,
that dreaded phone call on the wire
the words that emit
the loss of life's intense fire,
God's most precious gift
in the pounding pulse dismissed
of this old heart of hearts
tears and regret that we are
forever apart.
