Hanging On

I just wanted your attention
nothing more.
But you are busy
chasing the north wind.

I am here
by the southern breeze,
waiting.

As I Was Walking In the Snow

As I was walking in the snow
the north wind then began to blow.
That's when I started to slip
and turned it into a flip
they say I put on quite a show.

Premium Member Haiku 12 - Bird

the cold north wind blows
birds dash into the darkness…
no light in winter.

zebra finch on tree
chirping midst perfumed blossoms:
children adore birds.

Ideals

Snow-covered mountains,
ancient monuments,
a north wind that nods to us,
a thought that flows,
images imbued
with hymns of history,
words on signs
with ideals of geometry.

Premium Member trees in the wind

tree branches are ruffling and rustling
shimmering, shaking, talking among themselves
unraveling their secrets
flowing in a natural rhythmic way
manipulated by the north wind

Summer Wends

In a north wind chilled with portent,
Lurch and thunder white-foamed waves
Near this boardwalk stretching empty
Past its surf shops, hushed and idle:
Summer days wend to an end.

Premium Member Playing With the North Wind

I was dancing along on a windy day
When the north wind began to blow me away
I loved the feeling of that, so yelled hip hip hooray!
Surprising the north wind, who had decided to play.

Autumn

North wind is blowing
there's a chill in the air
bright leaves are falling
soon trees will be bare.

Winter is coming
as another year ends
time for remembering
and sharing with friends.

Seasons come and go

North wind speaks to southern sky

They will meet again.

When the north wind blows, and the aroma is quite bleak
Be careful with the push, you might get more than a squeak

Premium Member A Wintry Smile

As she dances to a frosty tune
Her wintry smile is cold as ice,
She waltzes midst leafless trees -
 They shiver at her touch!.
 She calls the north wind
 and blizzards come
 Her cold heart,
 Thaws in
 Spring

The Vagabond

Rose petals blown
By North wind sing
Drift to and from.

As the twig sways
Blown gush of win
Flowers falling.

Ripe red apples
Eaten by birds
As reapers watch.

Dried leaves afloat
Flowing stream
Going to sea.

Chrysanthemum

Not following vernal flowers, you bloom in autumn;
By the fence, you stand by yourself in manners awesome.
You prefer to wither at the lofty bough with fragrance
Rather than dance with the north wind in complacence.

Premium Member Prairie Solitude

The north wind blew across the prairie plains

The pearls of snow blew across the sea of white

Sparkling like white diamonds in the glittering sun

No sound resonated in the cold crisp clear day

It was a moment of prairie solitude.

The Four Winds

COLD, blows the North wind
Chilling us to the bones

WARM, blows the South wind
Up from the temperate zones

GENTLE, blows the East wind
Stirring leaves with a sigh

STRONG, blows the West wind
Scattering clouds across the sky

A Winter Wind

The North wind blew like I never saw
A wind that froze my teeth and my jaw
A wind 'twas for the ages
A wind that turned the pages
On books that call a Winter wind raw

Premium Member Lazy Squirrel Tries Not To Freeze

lazy squirrel tries not to freeze
his claws feel cold and brittle
north wind is brisk
how much longer?

he remembers what his mother said
create the sturdiest nest you can
work on it when the leaves change colors
he wishes he had listened

Strange and Ghostly Sounds

Strange and ghostly sounds

Howling through the tree tops
A strange and ghostly sound
Haunting hollow echoes
Saturate the ground
Whistles in the passageway
Like a banshee’s screaming pain
Natures’ eerie moments
From the north wind and the rain

Premium Member Out On the Veranda

Warm sunshine did beckon come out
North wind did threaten chill
Hummingbird windchime played a tune
But it was cold on the hill

Just a few minutes with nature
Enjoying bird calls fine
See the effect of sun, wind,_rain
'Pon the tall Georgia Pine

Stillness sweeps horizontally, then
Swells vertically. It is zero below
South wind meshes with north wind; it
Sends us clamoring for feathers of goose, we're
Secluded in layers. Closer and closer we seek
Somebody; a lover, next of kin, The Mighty Comforter.

Premium Member Little Michigan

It's winter again
in little Michigan
The north wind
has grown cold.

Seem to need
brand new boots
These leaky ones
Have old holes.

Those stratus clouds
Prove the truth
With six inches
of new snow.

It's winter again
in little Michigan
GOD bless our
Home Sweet Home.

Premium Member Birthday Joy

North wind blows,
wafts winged snow
in chilled air.

Night sky glows,
wears star crown,
lights up gloom.

Life of faith
hails with joy
birth of Christ.

Trees abandoned from their leaves
                              Wearing boughs of lichen sleeves
A blanket from the cold breeze
When the blustery north wind teases
