Restfulness was for the body's good,
bright and lively are the roses;
my aria has powerful tones!
Martha smiles, today she's dressed in red;
she invites me in to taste her sweet bread!...

Arthur

I recall my poor uncle Arthur
sitting on the stoop drinking vodka.
Aunt Martha pulled a shiv;
said he just couldn’t live,
then she boiled his cirrhotic liver

Martha Jane Cannary,
For her time was quite contrary.
A hard drinking, sharp shootin' gal,
Who dressed like a man and whose language was foul.

Robins Return
The bark of eternity,
an armoring sure

An oak or a maple,
their majesty pure

Below their dark cover,
time circles in rings

Where destiny spirals
—as residents sing

To become what you look at,
to say what you know

Your eyes to retract,
your wisdom to grow

To live by a credo,
to die only once

Your soul to take flight
—your spirit to hunt

There once was a domestic diva named Stewart,
Who started a decorating empire and grew it.
It seems everthing she touched turned to gold,
Until she fell victim to that adage of old;
She succumbed to greed and promptly blew it....

Kitty's Halloween Party
Martha a timid kitty, dressed like witch
After all cats arrived turned off the switch
Looking at self felt witch was near
Screamed and fainted in utter fear
She spent her night in bed, Oh! What a hitch.

’Twas Martha, not Mary, quite contrary When asked just how the vineyard grows. A sanctuary from the world; that’s what we really meant, you know. Methinks latinx* can visit here To trim the vines so merry. Our food’s divine, just watch the time, And catch the evening ferry.

Premium Member She Is a Martha Stewart
Our hostess had creamed cheese in pea pods.
I loved it!
And jalapeno jelly in wonton wraps.
I love jalapeno.
I made a pig of myself.
Snorting and chomping.
Squealing with hog gusto.
She brought out strawberry turkey salads.
She’s like Martha Stewart, my friend suggested.
Except she has probably never been in jail, I replied.
Jealous of both of them....

An Eighth of a Lemon
An Eighth of a Lemon

For Martha in the early years
life was recess, nothing more.
She knelt on asphalt,
quartered oranges for kittens
who never lost stringed mittens,
whose London Bridges
never fell down.
For Martha now,
life’s Parkview Manor
where a woman in white,
three times a day, bleeds
an eighth of a lemon into her tea.

Mary and Martha
Martha was busy with food to prepare
as Mary sat so intently aware
     while Jesus was teaching,
     with Martha beseeching,
“Tell her to help me, this labour to share."

Jesus responded, “Martha you worry,
you busy about all in a flurry.
     Mary's offering praise
     with devotional gaze.
She's chosen aright. Abandon the hurry.”

Apology To Martha
Martha, my dear,
I’m a loser. Everybody’s trying to be my baby. Help! Every little thing, in
my life, tomorrow never knows. Tell me what you see. Don’t pass me by. It’s all
too much. All you need is love. I want you. Come together, let it be. Oh! Darling,
Here comes the sun. I want to tell you, here, there and everywhere, if I needed
someone, I need you.

From me to you,
Mr Moonlight

A Mothers Lullaby
Close your eyes and good night
Really!!
I can’t even close my eyes for five minutes,
much less all night.

And rock-a-bye baby!
With a bottle of Vodka maybe

Close your eyes and sleep tight
For reals?
Try sleeping tight through more
crying than Martha Stewart
     at a Stock market crash

Close your eyes, rest your head
Sure
But good grief, not in my bed!
I’m tired!

Celebrating mothers everywhere!...

Dont Leave the Matter To Martha
Don't anyone on this flatter
Nor leave the matter to Martha.
To her it might mean 'No matter'
While it's one that could things batter.

Long-built relationships scatter,
When challenged lips simply mutter
Once clean lives in foulest gutter,
Quiet room source of loud clatter.

Each time, I awake this matter,
Fears of waiting ruin get fatter:
I glimpse feet and hear their patter.
As they inch closer, blood-spatter...
