On Saturday, the L A Rams
Encountered the Monterey Clams
With no and, if, or but

The Sopranos limped home like lambs!...

Dodger Blue
The Brooklyn boys went to LA. In Ebbett’s Field, they did not stay. They play in the sun. Los Angeles loves Dodger blue. The team is a contender true. They are number one.

Happy Old Man
HAPPY OLD MAN

Happy old man
Alone watching television
No cards no phone calls
Tin of beans for dinner
Son in Los Angeles
Daughter in London
They must have been
Too busy to call
He understands
He loves them
For they are his children
Happy old man...

The Mayor of Los Angeles, what a mensch!
Helping the homeless in LA, buy placing
art murals right next to their tents.

Are they to cook them for breakfast, lunch
or dinner, perchance?

Proof that some politicians are morons
and obnoxiously, dense!

Premium Member Feel the Wind Sigh
Where's the smog
   And the pollution
Only noise, the frogs
   No gangland executions

Millions of stars in the sky
   Nights crisp, fresh and cool
I can feel the wind sigh
Nature -- not man -- rules

Lack of excitement or buzz?
   -- Doesn't bother me
I've fled Los Angeles
   For God's country...

Carol studied Phillology in Los Angeles Super Mall

                                      Uttered Shakespeare's quotes

Shootings In Orange, California
Another gunman opened fire and went wild. Among his four deceased victims was a child. It all happened in Orange, California, near Los Angeles. Many people are outraged because of this. Why have there been numerous shootings like these? I'm afraid in the near future, there will be more fatalities. From a news story found on aol.com

St. John gave its pupils arithmetic
I glided through these
Like breeze of Belize

Los Angeles City College leveled me
Algebra had me on my knees

YET

I clamored to Cal. State, Long Beach,
Where Information Science sacked me

I fought back on campus lush lawns
Lingered crossed-leg in summer sun

WON

My grade was not an F
I graduated and felt blessed.

Bruccoli
Working with the
great man,
larger than life,
could be like living
in Los Angeles;
you might have
a nice house
on a quiet street
with good neighbors,
but you knew
at any time,
there could be a
drive-by shooting.

[Dedicated to my former boss, Dr. Matthew Bruccoli, leading expert on F. Scott Fitzgerald and several other authors of his age, who helped found the Dictionary of Literary Biography.]...

Hover cars.
Who needs them?
Los Angeles.
Maybe if they had them, the gangs would stop fighting.

Hover cars.
Have they been invented yet?
I am sure they have.
Let's get them out onto the highways, and stop the road rage.

Hover cars.
Built for congested freeways.
For people who spend four hours a day in their cars.
Pretending to like something on the radio.
How can we get them to Los Angeles? Fast!...

Fossil Friend
Fossil Friend

Why, just the other day, or so it seems
T-Rex and I were playing by the stream
And tar pits of La Brea
I remember that day like yesterday
I’m just another fossil reminiscing
Where my old friend fell in
And now I visit him
At The Page Museum in Los Angeles
Someday my aging bones will settle down as well
People will speak antiques and talk about my times
Old stomping grounds and ancient finds...

True Blue Pledge
True Blue Pledge

I pledge allegiance to the boyz in blue
During the highs n lows
I promise to always cheer for you
You win some u lose some is the way of the game
Thru trial n' error I will love LA the same
For I am a loyal dodger fan,
I will always stand with pride
Throughout their journey
I vow to sit shot gun the entire ride.
I live, breath, & bleed that Dodger blue
Forever representing Los Angeles Dodgers,
I am True Blue....

Wish I Was, Here, There and Everywhere
Paris in the spring time,
As the world comes to life,
I'd be on someone else's dime,
Fall in love and forget my strife.
Los Angeles for the glamour,
I'd mingle with the stars,
I'd watch the paparazzi clamour,
To get the scoop in high end bars.
Fiji for sand, sea and sun,
I'd laze on the beach,
The nights would be fun,
My worries out of reach.
In Rio de Janeiro, I would dance,
In Rome and Venice, I'd find romance.

March 2017...

The Bums Play Somewhere Else
Just in case this is something you didn't know before: the Dodgers don't play baseball in Brooklyn anymore. Ebbett's Field is a ballpark we will no longer see. It was torn down, and is now a part of history. Even though those boys in blue have gone away, they are still playing the game of baseball today. In a new town, the Bums have achieved greater success. Home games are played in the California city of Los Angeles.

Los Angeles
Living in the city of lights
One among many Angels in flight
Souls that connect, artists we are

Always a place to converse with a star
Never boring or lonely because
Gravity pulls us together with buzz
Everything moving in fast pace
Life is simply a beautiful race
Engraved in my heart this city I love
Sunshine and diamonds and friends in my land.

A land of beauty art and aspirations
The most exciting place to take vacations....

The New West Coast
There are boats resting on the Idaho shore. The west coast we once knew is no more. Frisco and Los Angeles we can no longer see. They have become places in our history. Oakland and Fresno are at the bottom of the sea. They are like the Atlantis of antiquity. We tried to warn the populace, but to no avail. It only took one good shake on the Richter Scale. Goodbye to what we knew as “California”. Let’s spend some time on the beach in Nevada.

Premium Member Long Leisurely Lunch
Lazy, long, leisurely lunch,
    Lolling, laughing, lingering,
     O'er lamb-stew, linguini 'n lager.

In Louisville, Los Angeles, Las Vegas,
    London, Lisbon, or Lyon;
At Los Olivos, Las Palmas, La Paloma,
La Scala, La Baguette, or La Castilla:

Let lunch lie palatially on your palate,
Let lunch slowly settle in your limbs,
     Let lunch last always:
      Let it lustrate and luminate
Life lived long and lived well....

Earth met Covid-nineteen the other day

she wished a lot of thanks to it to say

The Starry One

While they slept
she folded up
her two sisters
between two great wings
holding them tight
like she was protecting them
on the LA Metro Red Line.

The next day
nothing happened to them
while they walked to work.
A few feathers fell
which others
picked up and slid
into purses, pockets
or hair.
She awoke
in an empty warehouse-
Los Angeles Street-
and waits,
nearly bound, struck by daylight,
no longer a star-
barely a goddess....
