Of Ice and Man

Quiet, the slow icy drip.
Firelight cakes the trees.
Evening, wooded clearing , winter trapper.
Lonely but content.
Envisioning the furry catch.
Money lining woven pockets.
Jerky in his hands.
Abandoning Los Angeles.
New York City too.
His fiancee waiting, sturdy cabin.
Miles away, Oh, miles away.
Hard for her, work hard for her.
Baby in her swollen tum.
Silence, Trap Shuts.
Victory, Yes Victory!
