Long Weekend
Harry Jayson was a banker never at fault
he ignored any personal assault.
He was free and easy-going
nary a care showing
until Friday night he got locked in the vault....

Memorial Day
soldiers gave their lives-
enormous price for freedom
Gray clouds in morning

*An unofficial beginning of summer with a long weekend of BBQ's, beer and having fun, but
we all should take a few moments and remember the real meaning of Memorial Day....

Premium Member The Sound of Thunder and Fireworks
Dogs ears are sensitive
So a crack of thunder
Or fireworks hurts their
           ears
Their eyes look scared
They are afraid and hide
Running under the bed

Every long weekend
Fireworks does happen
The dogs get scared
The noise is very loud
Hiding until the sound
Is all over...

Never Forget Always Remember
It's memorial day
Don't forget it's not OK
To think it's just a day for you
To enjoy a BBQ
And have an extra long weekend
Forgetting lives lost who defend
Your freedom and paid the price
With their unselfish sacrifice
Keep them in your memory
Never forget the families
Who won't have them by their side
Keep these heroes actions alive...

Premium Member A Long Weekend
under the blue yonder of sky
a few stars glowing the coming dark
I can still see my way around
for a last drizzle from the pup
as the cat nocturnal woke up
to wonder the night
driving back to the city tomorrow
I embrace my welcoming bed to dream
the lure of lore and a galore of snore
frogs croaking the lake on lily pads
as every thing must end until morning...

Premium Member A Victoriia Long Weekend Fireworks
A Victoria long weekend
Is a long weekend
In the month of May
A gathering allowed
The rue was announced
Only small gatherings
Allowed to be held
Parks of any kind not
allowed
Just held in backyards

Waiting for darkness
then fireworks begin
Sleep interrupted
To wake from sound sleep
Loud pops noises heared
Loudly for hours
Until all is quiet
Once again to sleep
soundly...

Rain Down the Window Pane
Saturday evening rain down my window pane,
Shades pulled down hide the sight of clear dribbling dots,
Spending the night alone with the soothing pings of water outside tying to come in.

Remember when the AC broke right before the long weekend?
We couldn't get it fixed for a full week,
Instead of complaining about heat,
We went to the beach and took it all in.

Funny how the seasons change so quickly....

Listen to poem:
It was a spectacular autumn Friday afternoon like no other. We hopped in a cab to rush home for a fun night to kick off the long weekend. Less than an hour into it, we had to call an ambulance and that was the end of that. Our best friend was suddenly dying of a brain aneurysm.

Premium Member Shadows Seen
It was a long weekend
The weather man reported
About our weekend weather
Would be rain for three days
The strong wind is blowing
If you closed your eyes
You would think of waves
Coming to the shore
For me its peaceful sound

When all the rain stopped
The sky had some clouds seen
White puffy clouds shaped round
They were slowly floating by
Then the sun was shining
All sorts of shadows seen
Some looked like birds
Others looked like animals
Dog shadows looked huged...
