Stereotype Enforced By a Storm

While I appreciate the vacation
it would have been better if it were paid.
Funds lessened by nature’s aggravation,
lends credence to the starved artist charade.

Death Calls

The gallows were offered,
guillotine chosen

Executioner a matter
of choice

The sinner repentant,
evil now lessened

Death calls
—in a welcoming voice

Why We Have Two Hands

The main reason we have two hands I reckon To pet two dogs at once and neither will feel lessened Find it amazing I do Also tying our shoes That way we don't waste even a millisecond

The Dawning of Another Day

Overwhelmed, as I was
Today has dawned
My pain, has lessened
And the loneliness, subsided

A new time, is here
My loss is in the history books
Now, I must not be daunted
Be brave, against whatever comes

Antrim Glen

Friends, dear friends, thanks for your effervescence Miss the camaraderie at Antrim Glen, always present When we moved away, it left a big void Our time there was totally filled with joy Still miss it so much, the longing hasn't lessened

Au Contraire

They come to me couplets,
  they come to me tight

They come to me rhyming,
  they come to me right

With lessened confusion,
   more light in the air

All youthful illusions,
   exposed,
     —‘au contraire’

To No Avail

Is a lie in its intention,
or its desired end result

Is deception ever lessened,
if the harm is never felt

Can you skate by blame or judgment,
if your evil plans then fail

Or are you even more at fault
—when you lie to no avail

My Heart

Satan has torn at my heart ---
Leaving lascerations deep and wide ---
At first the pain was intense ---
It has been lessened with times passing ---
Not quite absent of anquish ---
Just enough to remind me it's there ---
So my heart continues to beat ---
Only because God allows it to.

The Number of Hairs

Good to listen to others:
let’s face it, they want
to be heard—why they speak--
even if we have all the answers
imagined
since questions and answers
are more numerous than
the hairs on our heads combined
lessened by the reason for time
our ignorance to not hear
and only be heard….

Jesus Counts Hairs

The Good Book states that Jesus knows the number of hairs on your head,
And I assume He also knows the color be it blonde, purple or red.

I would also presume that His calculations are somewhat lessened over all,
Considering those members of His flock who are as bald as a bowling ball!

The Purple Bump

While heading to office I hit against the door,
And my forehead started to soar!
Seeing in the mirror I came to know,
I got a big bump with purple hue!
Ice was rubbed, compression was applied,
To help the purple bump to subside
Pain was lessened; I got relieved,
And the Purple bump was gone indeed!

Tristich Series

Sixty year old cabinet hinge squeaks Pain as owner bends her knees A long relationship at its peak Cling wrap drops upon the floor Carpal tunnel lessened her grip Cabinet door hangs loose from core Stiff painful back slows grabbing wrap Lying upon unswept white tiles Angels hoover near as she collapsed

California Earthquakes

What a horrifying two days people in California had,
I was shocked, my breath taken away, so very sad,
For all my poetry soup friends that live there or close,
Hope you are all safe, you must have all with fear froze,
Our prayers are with you, and you are in everyone’s thoughts,
Hope scare for more earthquakes has lessened, love you lots!

In Your Arms

My darkest day somewhere does creep Against unseen foe I must verily leap To fight my demons hidden deep Within your waiting arms you let me weep The pain now lessened that I keep Then slowly heal the wounds that seep Through love a light that twilight reaps With you my days surcease in tranquil sleep Brians Select E contest 2nd place

Final Sale

Two shoplifters, when they were caught,
Stealing items they just should have bought,
Fought their felony charge
For their total was large,
Adding up to much more than they’d thought.

See, their sentence, the thieves had deduced,
When the charges had been introduced,
Should be lessened, to scale,
Since just items on sale
Had been stolen, their prices reduced.

A Prayer By Anna Lo P

Broken hearted, that's how I felt now
Alone and my thoughts in wonder,
A good friend sent me this
After all, my life is still in bliss.

"I may never have the opportunity
to do great things for you.
But I’ll always find a chance to do,
 small things for you
in a GREAT way BY PRAYING."

Thank you my friend,
tears were lessened
with what you have just sent.
Peace.

Treys Laughter

I made you laugh.
A real laugh.
It made my stomach flutter.
Such a small thing yet it made me,
in that brief moment,
fall in love with you.
You were bright and happy,
your cynicism lessened.

Don't worry,
you came back and I landed
softly back to reality.

Is it a good thing that I'm learning
to not to be hurt and
stuff the love back down?

Oh how I could love you if you let me.

The Last Exchange

While the sun was slipping away
You left me
With a gifted moment

A moment that lessened fears
Yet hastened tears
A moment that spoke to me
Yet set you free
A moment that caressed my heart
Yet put apart
A moment that fostered giving
Yet nurtured living
A moment that clarified a decision
Yet cleared my vision

While the sun was slipping away
You left me
With a gifted moment

Whole Many Tenfold

She holds me so close I can feel her heart beating Every breath is ours For we share our lives as one We are complete, unified Labor is lessened By sharing our great burdens Our love has increased By a whole many tenfold Our lives have grown very close

His Disappearance

Malicious brigand of thought
Shadow dancing about
Times dark mastermind
Of sand felled memory
No deliberation granted
On the adequacy of crime
Here the confidence breaks
The vibrant glow dulls
This slow compiling of theft
His character torn away
The sum of his being lessened
Accomplishments sponged away
Slowly losing earned identity
Burning one chapter every day
A life story without its voice

A Sweeter Scent

a rose is a rose
though bent by the spiteful wind
some petals are lost
its fragrance has not lessened
beauty changes but remains

its essence the same
yet overlooked, you pass by
touching another
perfection your objective
you forget time's truthfulness

beauty is fleeting
roses were not meant to last
yet this bleeding rose
pummeled and bent, almost crushed
offers you the sweeter scent

The Non-Wastrel Queen

a true legend with spoken words
the world’s oldest reigning monarch
rarely gives interviews
personal feelings not know
her beliefs fundamental importance
well known for her dry witticism
habits were parodied by media
know not to be a teetotaller
wants to see her kingdom live forever
hypocrisy lessened and faded
the future British world is hers
truth her glory, riches, and honours
reign acquired but never regretted

Incredible Eyes

Your eyes are such
An incredible green
The most beautiful eyes
I’ve ever seen
The face of an angel
A smile so bright
Gives light to my world
On the darkest of nights
I love you so much
It’s hard to explain
You’ve healed my heart
And lessened past pain
Where I’d be without you
I don’t wanna know
I can’t help these feelings
They continue to grow
The love of my life
From out of the blue
How could I know
It had always been you

Always Been You

Your eyes, such an incredible shade of green
The most beautiful eyes I’ve ever seen
The face of an angel - a smile so bright
Gives that light to my world on the darkest of nights
I love you so much, it hurts to explain
You’ve healed my heart
And lessened past pain
Now that I’ve found you
I could never let go
Still those feelings inside
Continue to grow
The love of my life
From out of the blue
How could I know it had always been you?
