Premium Member want a ride in my jalopy
Want a ride in my jalopy asked Uncle Lou
That depends said Shelly. Is a jalopy an athletic shoe?
Where would you get that idea? Her uncle asked, surprised.
It sounds like something you would wear on a foot; she surmised....

Premium Member Ye Old Jalopy
Ye old jalopy of the junkyard
spiffed up
   with spinning tires
hydroplaning of the weather vane
    no ejection seat
    no buckle to fumble
open air
     hit from behind
the child held with grandma’s wrought iron arms
   grandpa’s at the pearly gates
chooses lemon-lime

The Old Jalopy
Trash the old jalopy
It’s just piles of scraps
Out- dated and no good
It’s just junk sitting under the hood

Junk yard bound
It’s ready to go
Drag it to the scrap yard
Looking at it, makes it hard

I had it for so long
it’s just rusted out tin
My jalopy is like my best friend
And I tried to keep it till the end...

J'aime la vie…I love life, with all that it brings
Alleviating the jarring pain of potholed roads
Labour uphill, thankful for easy descents,
Observe the rules, most watchful for red lights
Plagued at times by ailments, wear and tear
Yet, like a defiant aging car, I chug on and on.

The Old Jalopy
That jalopy is still puttin' along
Slow start on cold mornings
Loud stinky foul exhaust
And the finish is quite weathered

His seat is lumpy
He uses a lot of fuel
Not as fast anymore
And has a screw loose somewhere

But she tells her girlfriends
She still loves her husband
After forty two years
Even if he's not the man he used to be

the old jalopy...
manufacture Oldsmobile;
daily drove to work;

inside my garage,
also dad's 1915 Model J car;
old that jalopy...

that old jalopy,
manufactured by Lozier;
three-three horsepower;

slobmodel auto;
designed with rocket tail-lights;
that old jalopy...

my dad drove in style;
his nineteen-fifty eight Olds,
drove old jalopy;

Premium Member First Day On the Job In the City That Works
Awake before dawn, he jumps into his clothes
   slides, headfirst, down the curling bannister
inhales a bowl of cereal -- Thanks, Mom! --
   and bolts out the door into the old

used jalopy, where a nodding gunman
   bides his time in the backseat
relishing the lamb's imminent slaughter
   secure in the thought that even if caught

-- laughable, that -- he will post bail
      and be back out on the friendly streets...

Premium Member My Old Car Is Fine
Automobiles these days are super expensive And, I find car advertisements rather offensive, Suggesting my old auto may soon be trash, They are promising to buy it for loads of cash. I’m not in a race to keep up with the Joneses Considering what the interest rate on car loans is, I’ll keep my jalopy as long as it gets me where, If sometimes I’m returning on a wing and a prayer.

Premium Member Boogie Woogie Cat
I dont know what’s with this feline,
But I wish that she were really mine.

I think she’s the cat of my fun .dreams.
She and I would make quite the team!

We could go on “Cat Dancing with the Stars”
Bring home the huge trophy,in my jalopy of a car.

I’d make her a filet of salmon in a crystal dish.
And reward myself with sherbet, it is so delish.

Two swinging champions we and so full of soul..
Tomorrow night, we will snack on raspberry jelly-rolls!...

Premium Member Rudolph's Broken Leg
Santa's reindeer were in preparation,
training for the big occasion,
getting themselves in top condition
for their Christmas Eve expedition.

But on this particular Christmas,
Rudolph was experiencing pain and stiffness.
Santa worried about his fitness
and a noticeable lack of swiftness.

X-rays showed Rudolph had a leg fracture,
so he was temporarily put out to pasture;
and seeing as the winds were rather choppy,
Santa delivered presents in a flying jalopy....

Without Complications
i remember us running
with nets in tiny hands
through fields of daisies
the old jalopy hidden within
near that old weathered barn
its faded red color
almost looked brown
in the distance

oh the innocence
and laughter of children
with butterflies
and fireflies in jars
their soft light
flickering
from bedside tables

sometimes i stop
at the edge of the fields
and watch the butterflies
in the folds of daises
just to feel you near
