Notes About The Poem

(Entry for the Christmas Tizzy 12 Lines or Less Poetry Contest, sponsored by Miranda Hawley, submitted December 12, 2024 - First Place)

Rudolph's Broken Leg

Santa's reindeer were in preparation,
training for the big occasion,
getting themselves in top condition
for their Christmas Eve expedition.

But on this particular Christmas,
Rudolph was experiencing pain and stiffness.
Santa worried about his fitness
and a noticeable lack of swiftness.

X-rays showed Rudolph had a leg fracture,
so he was temporarily put out to pasture;
and seeing as the winds were rather choppy,
Santa delivered presents in a flying jalopy.

I love the fact that you have the most basic rhyme scheme, that makes it fun to read. I also love the fact that a flying jalopy was the solution to his broken leg. Congrats on your win in my contest.
