My Old Car Is Fine

Automobiles these days are super expensive And, I find car advertisements rather offensive, Suggesting my old auto may soon be trash, They are promising to buy it for loads of cash. I’m not in a race to keep up with the Joneses Considering what the interest rate on car loans is, I’ll keep my jalopy as long as it gets me where, If sometimes I’m returning on a wing and a prayer.

A wing and a prayer - my husband's car is 16 years old; he would never consider replacing his baby.

As long as my car runs, I'm all for keeping it. I don't like car payments. Nowadays, cars are outrageously expensive.

Ha, been there done that Milton. Boy do I have a car story. My parents bought me a 1970 Chevelle ss in 1977 for 700.00 dollars. It was all original with 73000 miles, this car today is worth from 90000 to 200000, at auction. I sold it a year later for 1500.00 dollars. True heartbreaking story...

Oh dear, Michael. I'm sure you've regretted that over the years! But, just think, you doubled the money in one year, and that ain't bad!

Wealth and greed has gone to their heads, you don't need a flash car to get you from A to B. Tom

You’re a man after my own heart, Milt. I’ve had sports cars, utility vehicles, runabouts and motorbikes. I wouldn’t want any of them back now, cos I love my white van. And if the Joneses think it brings down the area… they can move. Ha ha… Terry

Exactly how I feel, Terry. My low-mileage old car works just fine, and I like it that way!

Good one, L M. I've had my Chevy Cobalt now for 11 years, and I hope she'll hold out for a couple more.

Love this, Milton, especially rhyming “Joneses” and “loans is!”

Thank you, Ilene. I must admit I thought it was a rather clever rhyme. In fact, I think that's about the only rhyme that would work. LOL
