Notes About The Poem

Jalopy

J'aime la vie…I love life, with all that it brings
Alleviating the jarring pain of potholed roads
Labour uphill, thankful for easy descents,
Observe the rules, most watchful for red lights
Plagued at times by ailments, wear and tear
Yet, like a defiant aging car, I chug on and on.

My dear friend, Paul, you are a classic! And your poetic verse is always a smooth ride upon the poetic page. Your metaphoric acrostic is a gem and your last line a poignant yet uplifting finale. Keep on chugging, my defiant and inspiring friend :) Your golden presence here in the Soup kitchen keeps the atmosphere bright! Warmest wishes and hugs.. ~Susan

Thank you, Susan; your feedback is such a pleasure to read. I do my best to keep this old car on the road, and keeping myself occupied helps to distract the mind....so if you hear a chug chug chug turn round and give us a wave my dear friend! Warm regards & Hugs // paul

So true, Paul. Endurance, chugging along is vital as we age. A most relevant Acrostic for we seniors. Be well. Keep the engine running. Cheers, Brian

Thanks for stopping by, Brian. It is easy to slip into apathy, losing will-power, instead of moving on with determination. Best regards // paul

LOL Paul I can relate to this one. Am getting over being hit by a car on June 7th. No broken bones or concussion but lots of soft tissue damage and being hit full front my stomach is now giving me trouble. Also lower back pain and my neck s so painful it causes headaches. But I went back to work on July 18 on modified duties and shorter hours for awhile. My boss asked how I'm feeling and I said I'm okay, I can do this. A good write my friend. God Bless, JB

Pls excuse the late reply; life has been hectic. I am so sorry for you, Judy. Your accident could have been much worse, but you still had to suffer from shock and pain...those invisible yet unwelcome after-effects. I hope recovery has been forthcoming. Thank you for your visit, my friend ~ regards & blessings // paul

What a brilliant acrostic, I usually see ones that are not as deep, Contest or no, you know full well you are a winner as a writer and human being. Plus a first class gentleman. Pangie
