October Bliss

each gesture flickers

blazing multicolored tones

huffed breaths sing of olden notes

before winter shifts to white

Premium Member emu birds at my window

Three funny-looking scraggly emu birds were pecking at my window
I thought it was the rain or maybe hail until I looked out
They were hilarious-looking; what did they want? I wanted to know.
I did not understand their bird speak, they finally huffed off in a pout.

Premium Member Huffed and Puffed and

He huffed and he puffed and he blew the side out of the house.
The other wolves were laughing, as was an eyewitness mouse.
Birthday cake was all right, but the house was destroyed by his huff.
You will have to fix this said his Grandma who sounded angry and gruff.

Not content to dwell in the shadow of earth
she threw aside caution and grace.
She huffed and she puffed for all that it was worth
until she went red in the face.

Premium Member The Naked Poetess

A poetess thought she was such unique, hot stuff.
Disposed was she, to writing in the buff!
"What's so wrong with that" she huffed.
I told her unequivocally, in friendly puffs:
"Doing that, in your front window is arrestable, plain, dumb, stuff!"

Word Fortoday: Fit

WORD FOR TODAY: FIT

Previously unrecognized recruitment errors are now taking a HIT
They huffed and puffed but lacked the passion and required GRIT
Firms now realize that while talent is good; the cap must also FIT
Recruits that don’t fit the team might eventually drag it into a PIT
Patience is required to nurture new hires; initiate them bit by BIT
The bad ones will be sieved away but the good ones wear the KIT

Premium Member To Kill a Mocking Cow

The farmer said to the cow
Be quiet you old sow
To which she replied
I am not a pig, I am a mooing cow!
He looked at her mockingly
Saying "That is yet to be determined"
She huffed and puffed as he called the butcher.

Whether she was a cow, or a pig or even a one legged chicken
She is now the silent one.

For on the table she sits
A rightful dish along with the haggis
The Fox shall enjoy his menu de la soir
Roasted and basted
Merry Christmas to one and all!
