Bread Box
I fell asleep in a bread box
filled with musty, fusty rocks
rye and wheat
        whole-grained loaves
pumpernickel
        from the village stoves

once hot;
          now cold

the Baker's life untold....

Waking From a Catnap
Gently,
the maple's
veined hydra of a
tounge stretches out
in fall to taste the midday
mist, to sate its chronic thirst.
How like a baby in its mother's arms
is this rough-grained senior clothed in bark....

The Monster In Loch Ness
There is a monster in Loch Ness
Which has been seen, more or less
And tourists flock with cameras zoomed
To be quite expensively roomed
And even if the photo shows a grey, grained blotch
At least the bar sells a lot of Scotch....

Beautiful Summer
brash waves of ocean
glitters sparkling in the sea
they rise like a man!

white sands at the beach
the huge-grained dreamy castle
eaten by the waves.

the sun shines so bright
matches to perfect blue skies
birds went to parade....

Reborn In Verse
As my body stoops with age,
youth lulls upon the page

Where words forever young,
cry willful to be sung

As daylight quickly passed,
I greet night a friend at last

With memories deeply grained
—reborn in verse again

(Villanova Pennsylvania: December, 2016)...

He's Not Worth It
the common stone is useful
though others seem to mock
praising up their special gems
not solid as a rock

there we have the flowers
for everybody's needs
though holding all together
is solid rock and weeds

solid rock and weeds
useful coarse-grained grit
turning soil fertile
yet, he is not worth it....

Rivers' Dream
St. Lawrence river in the spring

when a lake makes the ocean its' dream

shallow ice and sand bend the wind

the twigs begin to twitch and spin

sandwiched like a water gin

buds burn through the fragile skin

never is there  amendment

sloughed grained signals silently sent

as vast white  feathers float to shore....

Just Say "no"
There is so strongly grained in me
some ideas like saying “no” just
saying “no” to certain propositions,
my Catholic upbringing, or upbringing
in common with inclination. I have not
been so nice as to say no to everything,
not very nice at all, but when I do say
that’s said and no more discussion.
I’ve decided, and that’s enough reason
to say “no, I won’t do that at all.”...

Tekeli Pitha
My beloved tekeli pitha!
They are rice cakes from Assam.
They are made by steaming them in a kettle (I call tekeli) lid.

Tekeli pitha
or
Kettle cake
tint of jaggery
making love with crushed coconut
cloak in grained rice
and spell of sesame seeds
steam and serve me
i tucked into the pithas in my kitchenette
I live with the aroma here in Assam
I carry the recipe to you there in London...

Reverse Midas Touch
was cursed with
the reverse
Midas touch
got to greedy
got to complacent
lost focus of
what was important
took for grained
what was right in front of me
I just wanted more
I just wanted it all
but by taking my
eye's of the price
the complete
total opposite
effect occurred
causing what i
desired to slip out
of my grasp
turning dreams
turning hopes
turning relationship
into a
pile of shit
upon the floor...

The Stream
The scarlet wolves followed.
Their light came from the trees,
the roots constantly changing.
Flowing towards the pulse of their grounds,
Rifts of the stream come closer.
Gifts of fruit for the red stained flood,
Nature’s favored breath controls thee.
Grained in the sediment, the wind no longer blows
For the breath has reached its peak.
Sweet born children run through its mother,
While she guides them to their place,
While the scarlet wolves followed the stream...
