Who Is Who

I’m good friends with a couple I know
First meeting their names confused me so
Since his given name is Guinn
And Bobbie’s what she’s pinned
I just “nick named” them Mary and Joe

Grace was more than just her given name,
Ready always to provide for friends and neighbors~
And so her kindness was proclaimed,
My grandmother, worthy now of God's own favors.

I Want a Cool Name Like Yours

I want to change my avatar
And create a cool name like
W.W. II or Peaceful One
Maybe Sunset Smile or

Fear Heart
I need a change
Bobby needs to
Get in the game

But then my mother gave me this gift
Why change my given name

Shame

Alesha is my god given name
Poetry is my fame

To this life a hater will never pitty shame

Divided Into One

Life-
Meaning
too often
is divided
by intervals
judge by color
or character
is way too
upsetting
so much that it
hurts inside.
Open up your
heart and take
a good look at
yourself in the
mirror. Who are
you besides your
given name?

Loving Three

Poetic dreamer, elaborately creative
The beloved disciple had your given name
There must have been two before you
Two who passed their loving heart and ways to you
Gave you their name for all to know of whom you belong

For my friend John Loving III

Another Given Name

Does a kiss by any other given name,
Taste any sweeter if it were from deaths lip.
Or does a thorn by any other appearance,
Feel any more gentle, pressing against your tongue.
As the mirror faces the dusk and soulless ocean,
It reflects the faces of us, humanity.

Point of View

To the heart, there are
no dehumanized objects;
even viewed from afar
each has a given Name.
And in that place,
not of names but of personal pronouns,
where I converse with Me,
the recognition is manifest
That You and You
are also We.
And even those We think as They
still have a voice,
something to say.

Names

I give to you my nomme-de-plume
My pseudonym, my given name
It matters not which one to use
For all of them still mean the same
I am the man you see before you
No name could ever change the me
Go ahead, please use any one
For the man who arrives is the one you see

For I am not nor will ever be a name
I am a man that stands before thee

My Lady's Pocket

my lady' pocket

my lone lady's pocket
has a given name
i call her sacred
she shares her
warm thoughts
and shares her
needs with me
and whispers
her every wanting
hungers to me
as not to upset her
I comfort her, and (the -and- is there to show action)
and put her to sleep
so she may give
my hole body ease

Who

Who really was that bawdy bard
Who held the world so mirrored.
Who chose a pen name for himself
and another for his wife.
Anne hath a way indeed she does
and will shake spear at time.
The man could spin a tale or two
he holds me rapt still yet
From all four hundred years gone on
since e'er he trod the globe
I know he's laughing at us yet
What was his given name?
Form: Epitaph

Ammo Abu Anas

His words add splendor to all that’s trite
Just like a tender breeze would do to a
Hot, summer night
Just like mountains are embellished
By golden sunlight
And just like an afternoon sky is colored
By a rainbow or a kite

Ammo: (Arabic) Paternal uncle or great-uncle, or ,more generally, a respectful form of
address to any man of an older generation.
Abu: (Arabic) “Father of”
Anas: An Arabic given name

Premium Member trixie does not let me wallow or wail

a poem about this
a poem about that
a poem with a bit of gunfire,
rat-a-tat-tat

they have their own minds
throw themselves down on a page
I don’t dare to stop them
I’ve reached a seasoned age

Who am I channeling?
It certainly cannot be Plath or Poe
My stuff is upbeat,
I do not do depression or woe

My muse is in charge
Trixie is her given name
She’s persistent and relentless
A do-something dame

Premium Member My Name Is Tom

My Name is Tom Written: by Tom Wright 10-7-2019 My given name is Tom, And I’m some past eighty. For the past fifty four years, I’ve been married to the same lady. It has taken extreme effort, to negotiate some slumps This old dog has faced, Some serious health speed bumps. For longevity I take no credit, God made me no boy wonder. “But what God has joined together, let no MAN put asunder"

The Signature

Something so strong changes a life,
no matter if it's wrong or right.
It knows no color or age,
the signature is on the page.
Cancer is it's given name,
it has no ties to sorrow or shame.
One is bound by it's spell,
upon it we will not dwell.
This persons name we may not know,
inside their beauty always shows.
A chosen one we know not why,
pray to God, stay by their side.
Every night, every day,
touch them in a special way.

Sideral dwelling
Where time resides not
There lonely ambles
The bigger truth of mine

Decreed distance
By unknown source
Sorrow of no form
Can ever cut short

Mountain high layers
Failed rejoin attempts
Roads paved with eons
Splatter unspeakable pain

Deeper than death
Piled sense of loss
Decayed earthly version
Inverted cognition of life flow

Useless etui of ignorance
My given name
For it says nothing
About who I am

Premium Member Hannah

We have waited so long for you, Darling,

Our precious, beloved, newly born daughter.

We have given you the name of Hannah.

Do you like your given name, sweet Hannah?

Your great-grandma wears it with pride, Darling.

She is longing to meet her granddaughter.

It is time now for sleep for our daughter.

We will sing a sweet lullaby, Hannah,

As welcome to our world for our darling.

Darling daughter, Hannah, we love you so.

We Called Her Pearl

A mysterious girl, we called her Pearl;
though her given name was Jezebel.
Quiet life, a hell, confined to her shell;
her chambers were the rivers of Roswell.

Submerged in Ros, like the nautilus she was,
Her beginning dated nineteen forty-seven.
Her tenure eleven; work was her leaven;
in fifty-eight, she crashed the gates of heaven.

FYI:The mystery? Was Pearl a passenger on the UFO's of Roswell? or the fated USS Nautilus? or both?
