Another day like a gerbil on a wheel clip,
Running 'round the house...
Stayin' in the same place

I think I'll go shovel some rain...

Ode To a Gerbil
little gerbil in a cage
running your wheel but full of rage
hate being locked up all the day
waiting for your big escape
wondering what it would be like to play
in the heat of the sun's rays...

Meowing Cat 2
The gerbil is not food
She doesn't like you
You pounce and prey upon my friend
The gerbil is not food
You paw at her, but she will bite
Your claws will never hold her tight
The gerbil is not food
She doesn't like you...

Premium Member Verbal Gerbil
A verbal gerbil provoked an irate crowd,
Muzzling a large lion lord by roaring loud.
A tyrant was toppled, and freedom assured,
Until the great gerbil said that was absurd.
A rule of History so often spoken,
Sadly, "Promises made, promises broken."...

Gerbils Poem
Gerbils poem

Two black eyes
Peep out of the bedding
A quivering nose
And not much more
A tail as thick
As a bit of string
It is a gerbil
Is it not?

Two blue eyes
Look into my bedding
Arms and legs
And a good deed more
Clumsy and huge
I wonder why
It grows so slow
And grows so high
It is a person
Is it not?

Tron
Energized by light
run with power
The opponents become pawns on a grid
A universal world in our imaginations
Spinning at the speed of light
Not a gerbil running on it's wheel

Made by a creator
Which one day will self destruct
Vanishing among a sea of stars
An eclipse of a moon
One like no other
after walking out of the game alive
Trying to make it back home
before you hear the final
Game Over...

Premium Member Go and Help It
What is it? A dog? Cat? Gerbil? Albino beast?
I am not sure; the forest does not know in the least.
I watched the creature approach a dried dandelion.
It began to whimper, next, it would be crying.

Go and help it! Someone’s voice came on the wind.
I was frightened a bit, it might be evil, not a friend.
Approaching it anyway, I decided to comfort her.
She teleported away, but I got a small piece of fur....

Premium Member You Can Call Me They
We brought home a gerbil wondering if it was a he or a she
Named it Polly-Jim due to confusion about who it might be.
Polly-Jim took out her embroidery and said, “I need more thread.”
And if you don’t mind, I prefer to be called “Lucy-Fred.”

This was still confusing, but we were too silly to ask.
Hip! Hip! She said impatiently. I need cotton for this task.
Is he a she then? We asked each other, in a weird way.
Lucy-Fred got wind of this and said, “you can call me they.”...

Premium Member Suzie Q Anteater and Ms Gerbil
Mrs. Suzie Q. Anteater will take the lead, Ms. Gerbil said.
If I try to take over she might thump me hard on the head.
We did not know what she was talking about, what did she know?
We saw them parading down to town, going kind of ploddish and slow.

I told you she’d take over, Ms. Gerbil’s eyes seemed to say.
This made us laugh a little bit into our hankies that day.
Mrs. Suzie Q. Anteater is the mother of eight or nine.
You’d best do what she says and stand straight in her line....

The Runaway Gerbil
There was a hole in your cage
And out ran you
Head held high and laughing
Like a gerbil would do
You hid behind the dryer
And maybe slept a few
And had a merry time
Thinking we couldn't catch you
You grazed on paper
And snacked on the lint
All the while we were wondering
Where the heck you went
But there you sat
After a bout of being free
No more running and hiding
You said catch me
Put me back in my cage
Shut the door tight
Fix that hole in my roof
And, watch out, I bite!...
