August
A pleasant ozone with a bit cold. An
Unclear cloud makes the sun to
Glow a bit. The rain drops closed
Upon the night and day, but not often
Stimulate the plants to restore and
To blossom. Fruits and vegetables every where.

Season of Harvest, Horn of Plenty
Season of Harvest, Horn of Plenty
Tiller of soil, sower of seeds,
Reaper of fields to feed the many.
(Grains and legumes, fruits and vegetables)
Season of harvest, horn of plenty.
Crops quenched by rains and meandering streams,
Ripen under the inexhaustible sun.
(Spring forth produce abundance in season)
Cornucopia spilling over Autumn goodness....

Idyll (Idyl)
Hypochondriac
He sleeps and dreams exercise;
packs his refrigerator
with fruits and vegetables.
A "clean eater," you see.
A worrying germophobe
so afraid of falling ill;
Don't dare cough or sneeze near him,
for he'll run away!

Supper Could Be a Salad
The Pollyanna who lives inside my soul
Decides we will eat healthier now starting today
Fruits and vegetables, mostly vegetables, she decrees.
I agree with no sense of honor or commitment.
Supper could be a salad. I stare at the lettuce a bit.
Salads are a lot of work, all that cutting and chopping.
I settle for a bag of salted wavy potato chips
And pick up the French dip since it has onions....

Produced Wedding Fiasco
PRODUCED WEDDING FIASCO
If cantaloupe
Could elope
and marry a honey dew melon
What would happen
If a cabbage out grows the garden
As crabgrass and dandelions rapes the fruits and vegetables
All this and inclement weather
What's the matter
Cantaloupe cancels the wedding?
Why! you may ask amongst the dandelions and crabgrass
Because they cantaloupe

Sweet William (For Brian's "bloom" Contest)
When I pick up Sweet Williams
And inhale their spiced perfume,
I see them on the windowsill
Of our tiny old back room.
Their sweet indented petals,
Coloured every shade of pink,
Glowed so bright in that urban gloom
They almost made me blink.
They’d grown on Dad’s allotment –
An expanse of air and sun –
Along with fruits and vegetables
He brought home for my Mum.
Sweet Williams bring it home to me
I’m still the child I used to be....

Wonder
Make me a table
As fast as you can.
My life is just starting
I’m needing a friend.
Cut the legs thick and strong
To hold a heavy plate.
Round it shall be nothing square
Many will come not all can be there.
On the table lay out the feast
Fruits and vegetables and many meats
Wine for the drinkers none for me.
Follow it with cake so devine
To think this is all mine.
Given freely I willingly accept.
Come to the table
You’ll have no regret!...

Time
Make me a table
As fast as you can.
My life is just starting
I’m needing a friend.
Cut the legs thick and strong
To hold a heavy plate.
Round it shall be nothing square
Many will come not all can be there.
On the table lay out the feast
Fruits and vegetables and many meats
Wine for the drinkers much less for me.
Follow it with cakes and pies so devine
To think this is all mine.
Given freely I willingly accept.
Come to the table
You’ll have no regret!...

- Fruits and Vegetables -
Towards a new season
Changes in silence
from summer to autumn
Earth's new costume
The light is falling
Cold nights
The fields with,
white blanket of frost
As glass crystals flash
Ripe fruits and vegetables
Blushing cheeks
Small children hands
Making jams,
apple cake
and some wine
Autumn in fire
the apples are harvested
They give us
a juicy taste
of the summer

Light Verse
Cheese Preferences
I like American; no one else in my family does
Velveeta is also a favorite; I like her softness
My daddy’s favorites were sharp cheddar and blue cheese.
My mama did not eat anything but fruits and vegetables.
Mostly vegetables.
I have three daughters.
None of them want the same kind of cheese on their hamburgers.
One wants pepper jack.
Another wants provolone.
Come to think of it, the third daughter does not eat cheese
She is more like her grandma than I realized....
