A Magic Mirror Meltdown

Evil Queen
Her face, a jealous green
The mirror on the wall
Black heart could not forestall

Snow White
Her beauty did ignite
Ruby lips and raven hair
Seven dwarves were quite aware

My Lord,

Let Your divine rain of love,

Upon the flames of hate fall

To extinguish thus the blaze

So we succeed, evil to forestall!

Memory Lane

The right to remember,
the right to recall

The right to uncover,
the right to forestall

The right to nostalgia,
the right to look back

The right to remember
—the right to retrack

Unknown Feeling

This sickness overtakes me
but only in my brightest hour
Cleanse me of this desperation
I know it will only build higher
Seek me, no other
Oh, ye unknown feeling
Swallow me whole, forestall the healing
for I no longer want the cure

A Spectral Change To Another Space

A spectral dream
to forestall
they can try
but can't prise my grip
from my tenuous grasp
of reality
in the dream
it's myself
i'm most afraid
and the night
is not my friend
when the ghosts
rise from the dead
and howl to keep me awake.

She Lies At Rest

She Lies at Rest

My heart still sings the songs of yesterday.
Where wafting words soon find their pleasant stay.
But breezy winds forestall; and steal her way.
Her endless chatter lies at rest today.

Success Is Not Progress

Success is not same as Progress
though the two may seem express
for while Success may vary
Progress is ever steady.
And while Progress may be undeserving
Success springs from meticulous scheming;
though circumstance may each forestall,
Time and chance happen to them all.

Premium Member Urban Sprawl

A lone tree Used to stand proud and free In a meadow its shelter we sought But now bends its old branches in a parking lot In the bridge between city, country it got caught Its now part of the newly built mall Growth, no way to forestall Urban sprawl

Anticipate the Dark Night

M-ust anticipate the dark night,
A-wait the blue and gray;
Y-ou should forestall the evil,
E-xpect the wicked way.
T-o anticipate the dark night,
T-uesday ninth of January;
E-yes of you must be open, be cautious and be wary.

D-usk and twilight will come,
U-se the guidance of light;
R-eady your mind to think,
A-nticipate the dark
N-ight.

Fall Is Here...

I feel the briskness in the air,
That yesterday, just wasn’t there;

A chill that freezes to the core,
Of summer, there just is no more;

The arctic cold is proof that fall,
Is in our midst and won’t forestall;

It sends a shiver down my spine,
The bitter wind blowing through the pines;

Autumn is here, it’s setting in,
Let the falling leaves begin.

Premium Member Rudiments of Wings

As a grey dove, nestlings are taught
     The Basic Rudiments of Wings:
if one falls, it cannot be caught
     First, learn to fly, then how to sing.
A perfect lesson elders bring.
     A human babe, on other hand,
is often caught before he stands.
    So, as life goes, if he should fall,
expects a catch before he lands.
     He needs to learn how to forestall.

Did you know that even eagles age?
I sadly put my story on this page.
Once young, I soared, regal and proud,
between lofty mountaintop and cloud.
Then, I felt the wind beneath my wings,
appendages, now old and shaky things.
Confidence replaced by quiet despair,
I realize, below me, only air.
Goodbye my dear, if I could but forestall
when my wings fail, and from the sky I fall.

The Journey of a Tear

What is the journey of a tear
Where does it begin
The thought that I may lose you
That you could leave

I feel these pools of sadness swell
As sorrow glistens
My eyes about to overflow
To not forestall

A single droplet breaks away
To realize its due
As heartache overtakes my soul
Torment rushes fear

No more to hold, my anguish flows
I still think of you
To sob away and feel my tears
Fulfill their destiny

Becoming the Messiah

I believe in Jesus
I believe in Buddha
I believe in Mohammed
—divinity shared

I believe in grace
I believe in epiphany
I believe in tomorrow
—the promise it bears

I believe in man’s ability
to rise above his nature
religion the jailer
—whose lies forestall

I believe that enlightenment
requires a commitment
to become the living embodiment
—of that One who calls

Broken Oaths

It is relentlessly our intent
To do the right thing.
Why then do we relent—
A bird with broken wing?

We make earnest pledges
Vowing to fly higher.
But they fray at the edges—
Caught in self-made mire.

We would strive to be
A friend of welcoming ways.
Except they quickly flee—
Gliding through wasted days.

We pray for a resolution
To these earth-bound misses.
But we forestall a solution—
Opting for self-inflicted hisses.

Impacting Pollution

In the rising sun,
Coming down by the mountains,
Echoes the sirens of seas.
Teaming with all life
Were clouds of foul defilement
Shifting torrents to crimson...

Metal vessel floats,
Tainting with slow corruption;
Flora, fauna, disruption...

Hopeful sakura
With leaves falling, vanishing;
Whales sprawling from erosions.
Trying to forestall,
From corrosions nature squalls.
Dying, perishing pleura...
