Violet Checkered Box
Jewellery, stylish pens, paper hearts, nostalgic figurines,
Memories of holidays spent in my grandmother's place,
Cherishing purple checker box with snowflakes, praying for same things....

STILL WINTER

through the barren trees
an endless expanse of gray
an orange street light

eye out the window
froze in hopeless thought, now my
furnace hums comfort

tiny figurines
on a shelf life of their own
care not for seasons...

Figurines
Christmas day. Receiving a Darth Vader remote controlled toy.
I had it for only 24 hours. Last time I saw it.
Where did you go, Darth? Back to chasing Luke Skywalker?
Oh well, got a good 15 minutes of playtime with you.
I've been called Yoda....

I Sense My Essence
I think it all would be a little
less meaningful
if the clouds
and the trees,
and the beasts,
and you, and me
were all just sculpted
like cosmic play-dough.
Does a child
assign meaning
and destiny
and truth
to his ugly, dull figurines?...

Premium Member Why Is He Up This Late
That what knot shelf comes alive at night.
Tiny figurines delicate and rather bright.
They dance carefully with feet so light.
Careful to keep out of grownups’ sight
A six-year-old grandson just screamed with fright.
What is he doing up anyway this late at night?...

Entities
like leprechauns, fairies
in green gardens on tan slippery domes--

mushroom-forms!
Such a sunshine delight.
More afternoon magic to enjoy.

My delight,
these lovely creatures all,
on childhood nature walks by myself.

I saw gnomes
oblivious, merry,
happy in their leafy green houses....

While all night queens carve figurines in gelatine and jade,

Behind a door and on the floor a deal is finally made;

A painted girl with flaxen curl has plied again her trade

And now the care within her stare has turned a darker shade.

Her lack of guile and parting smile are cutting like a blade....

Old Witch
Figurines fall from the shelf,
Death to the elf,
Puppets are sawdust once more,
Crushed on the floor.

Soldiers of Old Witch arrive,
Nothing’s alive,
Nothing but troops come to scorch
Toys with their torch.

Doll’s house is wantonly burned
Tea-tables turned
Over and everything’s spilled:
Rocking-horse killed....

Premium Member The Curious Passing of Li Po
Two figurines fell out of the sky
Dropped from a crop duster plane passing by.
The pilot yelled, "Look out down below!",
But no one could hear, he was flying so low.
The dolls struck Li Po who was filling his sack,
Now the rice farmer lifelessly floats on his back.
He does not move, first victim of
A double knickknack paddy whack....

Angel figurines acquired over five decades--
Bought, found in attics, given by friends and family—
Cover many shelves. Their delicate beauty never fades.
Delighted with the joy they bring, she vows there will be
More soon, to add to the appealing variety.

New Orleans
Mad night, mad night,
all the colours and the light
play tricks on the whirling mind.
Thick the air with hidden stares
from masked figurines.
Death hides amidst the crowd,
wearing a collar of beads.
Morbid debauchery, crazed song and dance,
the reincarnation of Bacchus
is looking for the chance
to break the lyre and end the song
of Orpheus at last!...

Their Cryptic Elite Of, Sleepy Hollow
International terrorists in a figurative sense and growing numb to this slaughter...
Bewitched they believe that there is no god aside thee ? Fixations, fashioned figurines
Chanting off with their heads the middle class row his Cu Clux Plan from her Southern poll ?
Shouting someone get love's gun out of Bobbie Woe's hand; Guildman Saxe, these be foreign sands....

DREAMWORLD FIGURINES – THE CURATOR
Such pleasant musing echoes out. She sits and creates her waxed dolls. Dreamlike are images sculptured. In her tiny waxed doll shop, Her mind configures masterpieces…works of art. ________________________________________|

Lonely Sparrow
And as I evolve into that person you'd never of expected, I sense a certain taste lingering desperately inside of me, hoping to see the transformation of your eyes as they slowly daunt the midnight figurines dancing casually down that lonely road. Should the train station ever leave, please grant me my wish. If she should ever be free, please send her these flowers.

Just For Looking At
A black powder 1868 colt revolver.
Dad’s rusty Buck knife.
A few old Zippo lighters.
Ivory figurines haggled over
with an illicit trader in Shanghai,
same for a two hundred year old
silk rug never trod upon.
A tin box with a broken clasp
containing some things
I cannot now speak of.
A few other keepsakes
that when I look at them
remind me of how I got here,
and how I sometimes
lost my place....

The Endlessness of Nothing
The start or St.Art?.
but where?

on the corner by the neon sign?
under the clock at Waterloo when it's
striking nine?

the third eye is my guess
but I improvise and
devise ways to bolt
lightning to the floor
and
always
always want to do more.

easily distracted
I dismantle tall building
abseil from mountains
and fire on four cylinders,
the Saint paints in the
missing figurines as the
menagerie dreams on....

A Succulent Chance
When opportunity embraced my lips,
The taste closed the gates on svelte figurines,
Eyes became wider than expanding hips,
When opportunity embraced my lips,
From succulent rich smooth chocolate dips,
Jeans submerged into bins like submarines,
When opportunity embraced my lips,
The taste closed the gates on svelte figurines

School Days Now and Today
At 60 you hope for another school reunion
of your compatriots'
After all this was your first corporate flagship
(Blazers and satchels)
Grandparents now, some retired
What is more reticent
is some of our teachers have died
but their legend lives on
such full characters
magnificent in their valour
deserving respect
Yet Facebook the great replacer
of friends reunited
cannot illicit enough responses
for a reunion or reaching out for figurines...

Premium Member Mysteries of Life - a Collaboration With Chris Green
Spill some wine on this white cloth
So impeccable, too perfect
A painter's canvas, begging

Drippings of red, crimson stains
Vintage patterns seeping
Rose petal brushstrokes beckon

Fingers dip into warm, slippery
Strokes on virgin dust
Drawings, slowly becoming

Outlines of a past conceived
Figurines learning the creative curve of
Life’s mysteries blotted in endless possibilities

What She Wants
She wants clean sheets and yellow flowers
Jello shots drunken love and divine
Thundershowers at night
She wants collector coins, stamps and figurines
She wants to be numb if she can’t have it all
She’ll walk alone until she can’t remember who she is
Or where she’s from
She wants to find a place where shame can’t visit her
And burn her skin
She wants to be right and she wants to know when she’s wrong
Before she actually is wrong
She wants to see the other side of my street...
