Nothing Happened To Me – In 1953

     Nothing significant happened to me
In nineteen hundred and fifty three.

And the reason for that is, I am sure,
I was born in nineteen hundred and fifty four....

No Books To Read
In the center of the Global village,

A world library like world bank,

With,

Many books,

Many pages,

In,

Many sizes,

Many colors,

Many languages,

But,

Fifty four people carrying a book like winning the World Cup!...

Mavis was a party girl but a boor

She's not welcome at parties anymore

      She causes people to yawn

As she babbles on and on

At twelve miles per with gusts to fifty-four

My Name is Tom Written: by Tom Wright 10-7-2019 My given name is Tom, And I’m some past eighty. For the past fifty four years, I’ve been married to the same lady. My first funeral was my grandmother’s funeral.
I was twelve.

Two weeks later, my second funeral was for a classmate.
She was not yet twelve.

Chris was a shy, simple girl, a good student.
She had a small smile, was introverted.

I had not bothered getting to know her.
I might have thrown her an occasional “hi”.

She had a friend already.
Joyce.

I have thought of Chris for fifty-four years.
Choices can haunt you for the rest of your life…...

Charles Darwins House
Charles Darwin’s House

I was born in Darwin’s House,
After the Christmas of Fifty-Four,
Right on the Edge of Ilkley Moor,
Charles lived there, just a bit before.

St Winifred was its name in my day,
From Wells Terrace it evolved.
Darwin stayed there till the heat died down,
His works on Evolution solved.

Scientist, Biologist, very clever man,
His findings upset so many for so long.
Widely recognised as evolutions Bible,
So many swear, he got it wrong....
