Why do we say someone is “drunk as a skunk?”
In truth, has anyone ever seen a skunk drunk?

carted off

Drunks
Drunks

Stay in Funks

No longer look like Hunks

Use Sidewalks for Bunks

Get beaten up by Punks

And though they have Lost it All

They'll be in the Bodega Tomorrow

Looking for some Alcohol...

On the Block Where I Live
Drunks yell & fight
Neighbors are nosey
Fences are 7 ft high
Like the wall of china
People pass like ships in the night
Without so much as a wave or nod
Saying good morning to thy neighbor
Next door or two houses down...

Premium Member Mirror Mirror
I was sitting at a bar drinking with an old friend,
and casually pointed to two old drunks seated across the bar's other end.
"That's us in ten years," I said taking another sip.
He responded, "That's a mirror you drunken idiot."...

Subtle
That moment when
You find your boyhood heroes
Were not heroes
But just more drunks
Who'd talk your ear off in a bar
Before going outside
To make for themselves
A bed beneath the ground.

My How Time Flys
In a downtown bar on New Year’s Eve
Had a few stiff ones and so did Steve

“Look across the bar Steve, but don’t stare
You see those two old drunks over there”

“That could be you and I, in ten years”
“That’s a mirror Chuck, I’m outta here! “...

He Made a Killing
There was a bar at the top of Dead Man's Curve,
the owner of the joint had plenty of nerve.
He had a funeral home just down the street,
with a cold handshake he was happy to greet,
drunks and mourners he was willing to serve.

Drink
Double duce my can is sweating
ice melts to water
jim beam bottle was covered in dust
up is down pleasure is pain
drunken arrest
a@#hole with unspoken thoughts
hangovers black outs
expendable friends
misguided girls quilt ridden
drunks most vicious animals of all...

The Band
The clash of glass bottles
Resound with every toss
Into the bonfire,

The drunks stand arm in arm,
Singing of good times
Among the frayed,

And trees loom overhead,
Whispering a breeze
To pass the sound

Of the hazy singers,
Perfectly aware
Of their own paradise....

Premium Member A Case of the Blahs
A case of the blahs
   evening blues
dark too early
   nothing to do

8:00 p.m., Monday
   Why go out
Bars are dead
   Drunks passed out

Clubs are closed
   Who would come
Weekend burnout
   Twiddle-dee-dum

Turn in early
   sleep all night
Wake up tomorrow
   rested and right...

Get Real
Strange , be it Christmas so
No picture card snow
Reindeer, not here
Elves and sleigh
No way
There are drunks and drugs
Fighting thugs
Try as hard
Not the qualities required for a Christmas card
Happy Christmas to all and dear
My resolution, to be a bit more realistic and throw away rose coloured spectacles
In the new year...

The Grass Grows Green
THE GRASS GROWS GREEN,
BABIES CRY, MOTHERS NURSE,
BIRDS DANCE IN THE AIR,
SQUIRRELS DANCE IN THE TREES.
PEOPLE THROW WORDS
HEARTS CAN NEVER CATCH.

THE WORLD IS NEVER POLISHED,
THE EARTH NEVER SOLID.
WE STUMBLE ABOUT
LIKE DRUNKS ON A NIGHT OUT,
EACH MOVING BEHIND THE GREAT WALL,
LONGING...ALWAYS LONGING.

LET IT GO
LET IT BE
LET ME SEE!...

The Drunk and the Liar.
Liars can't be trusted.

Drunks never learn.

Bitches always hatin'.

I'm the one who's gonna get hurt.

I learned to trust the liar.

The drunk is never there

Set my soul on fire.

Put me through more despair.

Live to love the liar.

The drunk became your lover.

In some way I became inspired.

By the drunk and the liar....

Premium Member Superbowl Time
Oh joy, it's Superbowl time again.
A bunch of drunks invading the den.
I'm just here to cook and clean,
Bite my tongue and not be mean
And of course fetch and serve for these men.

I don't have an interest in football.
It's all greek to me the signals they call
But listening to them shout
Leaves absolutely no doubt
That the Superbowl is best of them all....

Cut-Price Poetry
Why am I drawn
to this scowling girl
selling her poems
in a Shinjuku underpass?

Every Tuesday she is here,
next to a Nikon ad,
threatening commuters
with her cyclostyled angst.

Busy people keep up
with the times,
do a tap dance
on their smartphones.

Only drunks buy poetry.
Grubbing for their last,
sweaty coins, they
mock her with every purchase....

newport, ohio
one man butcher
pizza palace
boozed drunks riding four wheelers or
riding horses through woods on tow path in winter
air filled with burning greens
causing fog to roll down to family owned gas station
yet on the horizon
the sportsman club
gleams with sharp lights as
shooters aim to win
on the other horizon
congregation singing every sat. night
and sunday morning...

The Bench
The bench at the bus stop
was nothing special,
some metal and planks
that ceased to exist

A hangout for drunks,
a refuge for pigeons,
I don’t think by many
it has been missed

The bench at the bus stop
was nothing special,
that is till the moment
when we first kissed

Though it was dismantled
for obvious reasons,
among my best memories
to live, it is pleased....

Freedom Finally
Freedom from betrayal readers is rewarding,
Blogs have been changed to certain readers,
I have freedom from lack of loyalty
Lack of trust
And most certainly mentally ill stalkers who
Cut themselves
drunks
hookers
suicidal
rubbing in an abortion to keep a man trapped
Sites that betray me
I have freedom from their eyes
and given to an email list of thousands from forums:)...

I thought about these moments of suspension
when everything ends or has a break
the day gives up hurting and the night comes
the ones that are birds
give up their place to the drunks
and to those who are dogs
now there's space in the alleys
for the clocks to rest like gods
every body seeks a mattress and an illusion
after swallowing the carbs
that they advertised on television...
