Premium Member Only God Knows
Only God Knows By: Tom Wright 11-3-04 At conception, God knows whether our journey will be an extended vacation or an over nighter. Likewise, He alone, discerns the conditions that is inherent to our chosen way, and life’s circumstances that will bias its travel.

There Is a Truth
There is a night
so dark, yet so bright.
Only the blind sees through.

There is a song
so loud yet inaudible.
Only the ear-less discerns.

There is a food
so sweet yet so bitter.
Only the tongueless enjoys.

There is a path
so wide, yet so narrow.
Only the amputees treads

May the truth set you free!...

Premium Member When Words Don'T Come In Prayer
Sometimes,
Through concern for another,
And while grasping for words
To express that junctures feelings
Even effortless words appear hidden.

My thoughts,
And tears that flow always serve
To do the bidding of my heart;
For God discerns my heart
And tears are a dialect
That only He grasps.

Written for M. C. a wounded soldier friend....

Isolation
I have pushed myself too hard
I have gone indeed too far
Beyond the average within which I am.
Who then shall cheer when the bird sings
That lets stray its wings too far afield
That no soul near hears the melody
Or discerns the symphony
That otherwise would send amazing floods
Though these barren deserts of flesh and
blood?...

Barred Owl
In sleep
I awake dreaming.
Outside, the air is
heavy, still and close,
and he has roused himself
to speak.

A few, plaintive cries;
do kindred roost nearby?
He knows I’m here
because I listen,
yet he discerns in me
no purpose.

Might the woods
not be the same
without me here?
I am deaf to his
ancestral songs,
and so he keeps his peace....

Written: by Tom Wright 2010 As leaf sounds fade under time's wet foot, Likewise are the echoes of those long past. Who lie as dry bones among the tranquil, But a reminiscent view of a life once cast. Premium Member God Discerns Our Worth
He lived his life, at no time, absent of zeal,
And never dug a pit so bottomless or wide;
That from a loving God he would dare conceal,
Because God discerns the thoughts we hide.

When our sight fades we make wrong choices,
But each day we awaken to a brand new start.
His worth is not measured by other's voices,
But by the things God saw within his heart.

Dedicated to J.D.W....

Mankind's finite days, as minute grains of sand. Methodically exit the hourglass, That God possesses in hand. Mankind fathoms not hours, nor discerns time of day. Nor perceives what God, has chosen as parting way. But when hourglass is empty, and judgment day's at hand. excuses then, will not subsist, Nor will God grant more sand. Ecclesiastes 11;3

Forgotten
He was left behind
Years ago
He’s all alone now
And no-one remembers
A flippant thank you
From a hazy past
Wafts away in the wind
What is that he hears?
He strains his ears
And discerns in the distance
The sound of lively chatter
The clatter of self-absorbed applause
Youthful ambition speaks
And shares success stories
One of which is missing
The story we call forgotten...

Premium Member Walking On Ground Zero
Though quickstep I,
O'er the miry field.
Where thousands alike,
Have trod before.
There's one who discerns,
The tracks I yield.
And for each soul,
Those tracks that remain in store.

On 9-11 past, tracks ceased,
As many succumbed to eternal sleep.
Carnage, came as brimstone,
From early morning's falling sky.
Through wetted eye,
Man weighs the deep.
Incapable of comprehending,
The reason why?...

Premium Member Seize the Moment
There's nothing about us,
That God doesn't know.
He knows where we've been,
And yet where we'll go.

He discerns what we see,
And overhears us speak.
But give Him our heart,
And our life He will tweak.

While days are numbered,
And we're not in charge.
We can live our beliefs,
Living out our life large.

Always being cognizant,
Of each thing we do.
For when least expected,
Death will find you....

Only God Knows Everything
C-learly only God knows everything,
H-ow, who, what, when, where, or why;
A-lmighty Father is omniscient, watching from the wide blue sky.

P-owerful God knows everything,
A-nd anything in the universe;
S-eventeenth of May,
C-reator discerns my acrostic verse.
A-llow the Lord to make a plan,
S-o you can enjoy His blessing;
I-n spite of many mysteries,
O-nly God knows everything....
