Premium Member Slow Down

Happenstance meeting -
eyes and lips ignite a race
down romance's one-way street.

Feeling powerless -
is there a detour ahead?
A weak voice entreats, "Slow down".

Day Without a Poem

I
Words may detour you, be few, but no day can be poem-free by choice

Payday

Payday
Dr. James E. Martin
©April, 2014

He picked up his check today
And was soon on his way.
A detour was taken,
His funds were forsaken,
Now his fuel bill he could not pay.

Pop-Up Blocker

Navigating through the recesses
Of my mind, thoughts appear
Out of nowhere like detour signs
Set out in cartoon chases; then, I realize
My pop-up blocker needs updating.

Flies

A Sense Of Emptiness - Broken Wings

uncouth butterflies traipse
arduous treks at a colorless pace,
as broken vessels detour
unwelcomed, roaming cure
forsaking loves allure
heartaches fulfilling sorrows darkest space.

Road To Growth

On road to growth
Slowly down
To go further.

Be brave to try
Though road is rough
Tempt to do it.

Though road is block
Try the detour
To catch up work.

Road to first walk
Geared to end goal
End to all search.

Find Your Road

If you're astray
Or lost your way
Find the main road.

If road is blocked
Wait for rescue
Find a detour.

If life is road
Read sure road signs
Drive safely.

If choose two roads
Think twice and pray
He will guide you.

Roads of Life

"No matter where the troubled
roads of life take us -
No matter how far down that
troubled road we travel,
There's always a detour, that
will lead us to a better place."

Premium Member Road To the Social Era

The detour of a certain age
Is quashed in tides of fire

And forever is the youth gone pass
As on the strains of lyre.

Make no whisper none is heard
Amongst the thread-like silk

For sweet is yon meadow-lace
And forever, is the milk.

FAILURE DETOUR

Trapped in meaningless whirling thoughts
Boundaries draped around the body
Unsaid words confined in laughing gear
Dread sentiment flowing in breadbasket
Trembling uncertainty waving inside the stump
Sealed in anticipation of a utopian epoch...

Housewife Visits The Park

A detour, from off her time's
Shop-haggling usage.
Aligns with, through abuses
Working for a wage.

Snaps one back again, into
The old pleasantries.
Child's childish; with these about;
Hoppers; winged for bird!
And for rooks, as rantors heard!
Fun, fun parodies.

The Pass

As we cross the prairie,
 most times alert and wary
 You must see the pass,
 the way of the mass

 There can be no detour,
 the tail's straight and sure
 Seeing "Scouts" on the bluff,
ask, did I do enough ?

Ride on, there is no retreat,
perhaps the grass is sweet !

Difficult Roads Lead To Beautiful Destinations

The pitch fork in the road lead me too my destination.
Opened up my journey of detour with many difficult other destinations
Became new beginnings of my life full of advantages and disadvantages My beautiful destination, became a dream.
A dream that no bully can take away from me.

Map

Follow the map, they say.
Rules were set to obey
No glitch for us to delay
What if there is another way?
Follow the road, they say
No detour or there will be a plight
Endure, it is just a phase
Don’t fight, for there is no space
No judge will the case.
Follow the map they say

Premium Member I Care I Search

I care I search.
No answers can I find
to what’s ailing me.
Is it lurking in my mind?

I care I search
to know my body’s cure,
but every path I take
leads to one more detour.

I care I search.
Yes, I search because of cares.
But all I know is I remain
just living on my prayers.

Premium Member You don't get a second chance

In a world of haste and make believe
where time is a most valuable commodity,
do we really want to miss
chasing rainbows and cuddling kittens,
taking the scenic route and
smelling the roses along our way?

Sometimes a detour is the best shortcut.

Detour there
Now seed cheer
End nowhere

Premium Member Conversations On a Train

We are all headed in the same direction.
We are all travelers.
Why then, with this one way ticket,
must we detour?

Why do we lose focus
of what is really important
and concern ourselves with the
price or color or size of someone else’s ticket?

Why not enjoy the ride.
Who knows if the next stop is yours?
