Euphoria

Euphoria
is the sun within us
that empowers everyone to
cut through the darkest melancholy
and obliterate chains
before they can reach anyone

Surrender

The dyed bamboo of Chinese finger traps
Should have taught me everything

To strive is to cut through jungle
To surrender is to know
I am jungle

Anyone Who Will Listen

Music dances off the page
Flowing through me
Through my instrument

The notes cut through the air
And sit in the minds
Of anyone who will listen

Oasis In This Dark

Smoke gray owl
Deceives her pray
When silent wings
Cut through
These pines
Hands of death
Weave in and out
This hallow ground
Oasis in this dark

Slices of Deep Night

slices of deep night

cut through heart's embittered walls---

So This Is the Way Storms Work

You whispered.
And ragged butterflies bled into the earth,
Grasshoppers cut through clouds,
And in mounds, roses grinned their jagged teeth
Quietly tucked in satin.

I Killed a Tree :(

I felt your pain when I cut through your veins.
I'm the sentimental type, so I cry everyday at night.
No lie, I'm just another kid looking for a purpose in this place called life.

Fair Ware and Tare

Fair Ware and Tare

Golf courses will have ways that are fair;
Rivers cut through due to ware and tare;
Must be saying,
Here much golf playing;
Does anyone have an eagle they can spare.

Summer Day, 1983

Grotesque tall neurons sprout into the sky screaming anarchic omniscience Green gold pulses in incandescent eruptions Hot humorless jagged rocks cut through omniscient anarchy

Ascension - a Haiku

Shafts of brilliant light
Cut through limbs and boughs of blue
Seeking solitude.

A scare

A scare lounged deep within the hall,
As shadows danced along the wall.
A piercing ray cut through the night,
Yet filled the air with chilling fright.
A whisper stripped the place so bare,
But left a deeper dread to share.

I Love the Storm

I want the summer storm
with rolling dark clouds
and the sound of crashing thunder

I want to watch
streaks of flashing
lightening cut through
the sky like a knife
and feel the breeze
of pelting rain
as it hits the pavement

And it pales
In comparison
With what I can do
Cut through the
Bull probability
That we can control
The weather and
All these homes lost
Aching souls
In the biggest
Cover up and fail

Steampunk Bunny

Steampunk bunny has an attitude
that can cut through a park and land on a wall
Motorized with gears that are tricky,
he is about seven feet tall.
He is a bit arrogant, but I admire his gall.
He makes decisions quickly, never does stall.

Escaping

Deep memories cut through eyes' glassy frame
deer -on -the- loose hides on shrubs
while I follow its trail

How swift the disappearing of shadow
meshing with green foliage
Like my hasty choices

River Within 1

I see a river - within you -
with full of twists and turns

Younger you, cut through my tender heart -
to fall all over me

Come of age, you meander -
to split your love among children

Two Worlds Colliding

as cities blossom in the name of man’s progress. . . a burning woodland as new roads cut through mammals’ migratory trails. . . a lone gnu’s death cry Written by Andrea Dietrich for Russell Sivey's "Two Worlds Colliding" Poetry contest.

Smile

Smile as the world hates you.
Watch the knife cut through.
Identical slashes on your cheeks,
Infected and hurting for weeks and weeks.
Making a smile on your face,
Dripping blood all over the place.
Smile through the pain,
You know we will cut you again.

The Seldom Random

The silence of the cynical still
Could certainly cut through the strangest steel,
The raging echo of the crying fear
Sinfully freezes up my tranquil fiery thrill.

(C) Obaidur Rahman. Published in the poet’s debut book of English poetry titled “The Mystic Inferno” in 2012.

Screaming Agony

Twinge of feelings stir in my bosom
every time your eyes meet mine
reminding me of the scars of our walk
leaving trails of bitterness within
How I wish to show you
how deep your knives cut through my soul
yet you only end up seeing
how much can my heart bleed for yours

Poetic Triage

Today a Poet needs to cast
  a hook with many tines

To reel in those who’re lulled to sleep
  with cautionary lines

These days a Poet needs an edge
  much sharper than before

To cut through all the excess flesh
  —that blocks the metaphor

(Villanova Pennsylvania: August, 2018)

Butterflies

As this day slowly passes
Just like the years
As the wings of a butterfly
Sharper than shears
Cut through this jagged humid air
I realize its beauty is dangerous
But yet I still stare
As I count each beat
Slower than each before
It grows always and forever
More beautiful than before

Contemplations - September 2006

Smiles run across their faces

But I am beyond mellow

I want to run far away

But I want to never leave

I want to change

But I love myself

I want to go further

but I fear change

I want to succeed

I want to cut through my depression

I want to go on

I want to survive.

Letter To the Ethics Editor

How do you feel about anger?
Does it feel good
like other passions?
Is it a friendly device
like a sharpened axe
to shape the hardwood?

Can one be
forgiven for it?

When I hold
anger in my mind's hand,
I cut through ropes,
jam smooth
uneven walls.

It vibrates hard
like a rifle butt.

I Hate To Swear

The pain I felt
You know it was harsh
Right where I knelt
Put my knee in the marsh
I felt something sharp
It cut through the cloth
Got a bad scar
From where I had set
I was heard from afar
And it hurt yes you bet
I hate to swear
But I’m sure I was heard
By maybe a bear
Or even a bird
@#$%*(*&$#!!
