Out of Water
Moving reflection
a flying cormorant
on silky water.

alert cormorant
dives for fish in eventide …
             …hooked prey hears death knell

Cry More Rant
Cormorant
diving deep
on feathers
saturated so
still
your wings spread
your need
to dry enough to fly
as I
from deep
emotion full
saturated so
long
this need
to cry myself dry
before
I too may be
light enough to fly...

Premium Member Ripples in the Lake
 Ripples run across the lake
  Racing to the shore,
The unmistakable call of a Loon
  Echoes across the water
When the echoes fade, silence reigns again,
  Marshmallow clouds floating by
 Cast their reflection on the water;
A cormorant dives beneath the surface
 To nibble on the clouds...

Morning fog was parting for the day's performance,
and an audience of just me sat cross legged,
waiting for ghosts.
They appeared slowly, one by one.
Old whalers, freighters and, fifty yards out,
slate grey bones scarred with burnt sienna,
a young trawler.
A Cormorant dried its wings on the wheelhouse,
primary feathers spread, glistening ebony,
tattered like a tramp's raincoat.
The surf whispered warnings.

Transition To Love
Strawberry night to morning
cormorant lifting water lillies
madness gone way beyond.
the moonlight becomes
the chocolate night

   Our magic bracelets
singing
adorned,
can swimmers rise
where friends lie
pallid and corporeal
tonight?

  where lovers swell
to be alone,
how final?
they take the ride on wishes
sleepy mountains
snowcapped dreamers

  Go on down that river
waken to a friend.
like a broken
monster
I sip the brew
simmering
strong and bitter
in the dawn....
