Blue, spiny, varicose veins
years of hard work to appraise

Ecstasy gone
Sun fades, embracing darkness,
Cradling the madness

Rope on demijohn
Clotted narcotic crassness
The chimney warmth, gone

The abandoned skin
Thoughts dressed in nothingness
Eternally gone...

I Have An Answer
in the
violent street
blood is flowing
i dont
have questions
answers are cooked
clotted blood from
the wound
of
a
toy gun
platelets aggregated
is
the answer
massacre in education
bombs are the law
i
have
an answer...

Veins of mist
web and thicken
to a clotted stutter
of images
slipping from words
into a fog
of quiet from where
a finger traces lines
in air as if mapping
what has been lost
finally widening
to a circle
taking in
all of you....

The Invalid
THE INVALID

Speak to me of winter,
Of icy winds that keen and cry,
And shake the ivy strung by the lake
And push the clotted clouds along the sky.

To all a season,
And ever a season must end–
Life is born in a cry
And dies in a slacking of the wind....

Clotted Blood - Chapter 96, Verses 1-5, Holy Koran
I ask for refuge to Allah from Satan the exiled evildoer
In the name of Allah the Kind and the Merciful Giver.

Read with the name of your Creator the Lord.
He has created human from clotted blood.
Read and most honorable is your Lord.
He has taught to write with pen.
He has disclosed the unknown to the men and women....

Needing
Lacking direction and movement in life
I needed a surge
Mind clotted and unclear with too many thoughts
I needed to purge
I needed a big change
I finally got the urge
Now pieces of life’s puzzle are finally coming together
It is all beginning to merge
I am approaching the brink of happiness
I am standing on the verge...

Conflict of Interest
patience exceeding the lost madness,
fighting the reign - angry insanity.
vying for control, a dichotomy.

losing to the end - ancient battles,
evolutionary inevitability,
the loss of knowledge,
the death of understanding is at hand.
we are glad to see it go,
waving goodbye with red-clotted sticks
and true love....

Steak and Wine
we are eating the
speed in the lim-
b of a graser
the clotted blood
fear of the bulging
eyes, of the rib raw
very rare tender loins
blowing coals of an
open fire grilled
fermented purple grapes
in the black valleys
of summer ignit-
ing the thirst
we become animals now
by the side of the co-
zy bed in pure da-
y light...

Coral Reef
Blot this glassy water
With clotted blood;
Dive down, screaming;
Wish upon a starfish;
Stretch my gills and make them lungs;
Make me man, not manta;
Wipe the seaweed from my lips;
Save me, tangled, from your coral.

I have never seen the coral reefs,
Yet I am certain
It is a barrier,
Cuts the flesh of drowning sailors,
And is as deadly pretty
As a woman’s hair....

Destiny
I wanted to cry loudly
But i could not make any sound
So I keep crying silently
Crying and crying
But could not shed tears
Instead shed fresh drops of blood
It is invisible from outside
Every organ inside has swelled
And every drop of corpuscle clotted
The wounds are getting wider
Deeper and numerous, too
No healing is in sight
As if , like many men suffering is my destiny ....

Fragrant Food
A smell like lunches cooked by Gran -
oh, boy, my mouth will water still -
the veggies boiling in the pan
and roasted beef - I'd eat my fill,
and marvel at her skill.

Dessert was always clotted cream
on heaps of fruit she'd stewed;
It's wafting now...alas, but only in my dream,
recalling Gran's fantastic food,
and how she cooked for all the brood.

For Sara's 'Scent' contest...

Cold
Broken windows and broken homes
Windblown excuses
Shattered bones
Clotted carpet and pulled hair
Knotted eyes, flinching dares
Children scared
Praying and weeping
Mommy’s bleeding
Kicking and screaming
Ruptured lips and clenched fists
Nails screeching, paint pleading
Please! Stop! What did I do?
Shut up, b-tch! I thought I told you!
Daddy, no! Hit me! Leave mommy alone!
It was my fault...your dinner was cold...

Brown
What is not brown? Your teddy bear’s fur?
The coffee you sip or the chocolate you nibble?
The mud that gives your greens? Or your boots made of leather?
Falcon’s feathers or your own eye’s color?
Desert dates or Moses honey? Autumn leaves drenched in a dirt puddle?
Your guitar’s wood? Or the spices in your food?
Sundried wheat or almonds roasted? clotted blood or wounds unfazed?
Then why when it comes to skin are you so troubled?...

Flames and Ice
I'm consumed by dungeon flames
indifferent to the pouring rains
that blinded me like lonely tears
scalding me with haunting fears

Loosely blowing autumn leaves
crushed to ash before my feet
fiery flames engulfed my heart
shriveled into thickened dark

My soul became a luscent pearl
dropped into the cauldron swirl
as chilled enough the piercing wind
extinguished fire from my limbs

...froze and clotted boiling blood
pulverized into black mud......
