Who Lived In a Shoe

There was this young woman
who lived in a shoe.
She had so many children,
she didn't know what to do,
and then along came TheKidster with the following advice;
"Keeping Your Legs Clamped Shut Would Certainly Suffice!!!"

Baby

Child gurgling,
Baby burbling.
Tightly clamped hands arounds my fist,
I scoop you up and give you a big kiss.
With every pained cry,
I feel like i might die.
You are the tiniest baby.
You shall grow up to be a right little lady.

Crystal Night

the darkness pumps steps
down smoke streets, burning
light features the

cow-eyed, the clamped jaws
and forced laughter of those
with bent souls,

we are past all words, thought
is trapped in brown amber,
the night creeps round each corner

Mad Hatter Day

What a fashionable day to be in Wonderland!
quaffing a piping mug of peppermint tea
clamped into my manic hands
sprinkled in three spoons of
that sticky, drippy powder of craziness
with a side of derangement tarts
served on a golden platter
all I need to balance my appetite
for keeping my soul content
with this fairy tale madness!

Canadian Snow

My path is icy
But love has melted away
And my feet surely
Tread on the firm route
That is lined with
Deep friendship
Deeper even than
The cold Winter
That Jack Frost has
Clamped around my house
I felt trapped
But kindness
Gentleness
Inexplicable love
Has made a path to freedom
This path I am brave enough
To adventure along

This Is How It Is

Today I woke up in the morning,
Yawning,
Groaning,
Grinning,
Then I saw your beautiful image,
That was clamped on the door of my heart,
Guess what?
I stopped,
My heart limped,
My face smiled,
My bones chuckled,
And I saw a hope,
A hope of living again,
A hope of moving on,
Without tire,
Nor retire,
Yes, I gained hope,
A hope to battle again,
With no retreat,
No surrender.

I do not know

I respect not the cruel world!
Brickbats at me it ever hurled!!
As a human, me it forgot!
The cruel world, I respect not!!

I do not know… how I survived!
Parental love I was deprived!!
Many snubs I did undergo!
How I survived… I do not know!!

As a stray man, me people stamped!
My freedom wings, they ever clamped!!
Upon me they did place a ban!
Me people stamped… as a stray man!!

On the Backside of Hello

Standing quivering
Vulnerable and still raw
Needing acceptance
Craving a glance….from you
Aching for your hello

Feeling inadequate
Fidgeting hands clamped
Eyes downward
Craving a look….from you
Longing for your hello

Heart sprinting
Pulse tap dancing
Feeling dizzy
Craving a smile…from you
Thirsting for your hello

Feeling dejected
Fearing rejection
Ducking out of sight
Seeing no smile…from you
Hiding from your hello

Paycheck Prison

Smells like power
But tastes like chicken
Administrative duties
Make my pulse quicken

Repression wears a tie
Arrogance sports hose
Make Bossy smile
That’s how the garden grows

Timeclock sphincter
Clamped down tight
Constipation of thought
Absence of light

Artistic fire snuffed
Sculptor’s hand inert
Bottom line worship
Trade the smock for the shirt

Corporate aorta
Chocked with fat pride
With toad-lust for power
Freedom must collide

Parking Fine Valentine

Caution:
Do not attempt to remove yourself.
You have incurred the penalty
Of my undying devotion.
My heart and soul are clamped to yours.
Removal could mean a huge fine.
You are so fine, I find.
Get your engine in gear
And accompany me.
Give me ideas above my station.
You have been found
Obstructing my peace of mind.
I may just tow you home,
Bumper to bumper,
And let you park your chassis
Really close to mine.
My fine
Valentine.

Family Portrait: For Carl

This is you; this is me,
at the end of the row, white-faced.
I have you clamped in an iron grip
to keep you from getting off my lap.
The camera was quick; next minute
you were howling your head off!

At the other end, Ray is not looking pleasant;
Yes, we can wait all day if we want to!
With an occasional worn-out sob,
Linda props her head against him
And I smile down at you just like
  the photographer said to.

A New Spring Webbing

Calendared nature admits
winter has come and gone
and makes no apologies
for lingering chilled moments;

The audacious mendacity of spring
has clamped down a frost-bite
on the wolfing climatic ignorance
of ignoramuses who wallow in deceit;

Albeit it all, the cosmic deceit of nature
cannot be ignored by seasoned suffers
and their sinusitis chains of oppression:

Now the winter of our discontent
must yield to a spring’s new awareness.

Getting Senile

“Open your mouth!” the old lady demanded.
He clamped it shut, not what she commanded.
“Hey! I am warning you!” she swiftly shrieked.
She was holding a toothbrush that clearly reeked.
The turtle’s head pulled back, in a simple disappear.
She was getting senile, the poor old dear!
She thought the turtle was her little son, Tom.
When in fact to Viet Nam he had gone.
The turtle was his replacement, sad to say.
Tommy has been gone since 1969, in May.

Nickel and Dime

we try to make a dollar stretch
but never wonder why
when all the credit cards and checks
createdanother pie
but if you try to get a piece
they say that you're in debt
but how is that when you take lease
plus you created it
i see this system has its flaws
thru which abusers slip
but keep us clamped inside these jaws
with never ending grip
i simply see it all the time
how many of us play
continue to nickel and dime
when you could quit today

I

I dream not…
of that long past
of stormy sky
and the aftermath
of moonless nights
and starry schemes
of what was never
as it seemed

I think not…
of thoughts left blue
of black and white
with no other hues
of borders crossed
and passports stamped
with a nod of the head
and lips tight clamped

I see not…
what could have been
if you had only
let me in
seeing with your eyes
not with your heart
acting the role
but never the part

I Keep My Ideas To Myself

My mouth almost opened
But I quickly clamped it shut
Experience taught me not to try
To find my voice

Stifling myself is easy
I have sixty-seven-years experience
It is my natural reaction
I fall into it quite naturally

So many opinions of others flaying about
Engraved in concrete attitudes
But I have bound my mouth
With chains and locks, keeping my opinions safe.

It has boded well for me
Has kept me out of confrontations
I share my ideas with no one except poets.

Tear

Like rhythmic rain they fall
cold against my raw skin
bitter across my chapped lips
like words of hate and anger
poisonous to my young life
wounding my ragged heart
tearing apart my lost soul
constrained and contained
to the glass prision
bottled up and trapped by
my thumb pressing down
keeping them hidden with
a false smile
My clamped teeth bite back
the screams of defeat
my shirt soaked with rain
and tears
my body aching from the
internal fighting of man versus self
