Spate of the Union
He thinks of better women
She thinks of lesser men
	the kids think
    Two Christmases!
Neither thinks of them
	but he won't budge
      cause she'd get half
	and she won't budge
      cause she'd only get half...

Another Christmas done
And it was wonderful
But now it’s sad, gone
Stomach still is full
And the day is bright
Complete
But something’s wrong
Been out for 3 Christmases
And I can’t quite
Keep my shit together...

Premium Member Glow
the warm glow of nostalgia
has yet to melt the snow
that fell upon my christmases
of childhood long ago.

instead it keeps the flame alive
and shines a wistful light
on what was both a time of joy
and holy, silent night....

The Old Neighborhood
That street,
Not easy to
Spell, even
Now.

But radiators,
And old Christmases
Are unfounded.

But still, this
Tinsle town,
I wish I never
Abandoed you.

Driving, so fast,
In a Dodge,
We smiled, girl.

Until we domesticated
Ourselves....

Premium Member Fragrance of Evergreens
Magical aroma brought Christmas into my heart
Reminding me of other scents – cinnamon and gingerbread
What are you doing? He asked, coming out to see.
Smelling the evergreens, I told him.
Their smell reminds me of Grandma’s Christmases, he said....

Father Christmas bade me awake early
Cinnamon and sugar toast
What lovely memories

Enthusiasm of Christmases past
Bring forward all who are lost
Way too many people

Loving baby Jesus in his manger
Sixty-eight fabulous years
My blessings are many...

Free Cee I Ate Myself To Death
I ATE MYSELF TO DEATH

After suffering a supper of the insufferable
I would consume a dessert of death delectable
Because my birthdays ain’t happy and my Christmases aren’t merry
So I’ll take death for desert with whipped cream and a cherry

Christmases Past On Mantel Hung
Christmases Past, on Mantel Hung Three stockings line the hearth, each one a "tail" of warm Christmas past, of love hand-knitted, chewed by pup!

The Christmas Party
Sparkly, dazzling dresses
Lovely made up faces
Tinsel in hair
Glitter to spare
Moments of glee
Captured in a selfie

Waiters bustling
Calling out orders
Over everyone chattering
Glasses clinking
Plates clattering
Cutlery clanging

As familiar songs play
Last christmas seems yesterday
Memories rush to mind
Of Christmases long ago...

Hand In Hand
I'm
Coming home
I'm
Coming home
Finally
Spending my
Last two Christmases
Away from home
I've travelled
Far
I've grown
Thicker skin
I appreciate
More
Since
The last Christmas
I was home
I've loved
I've despaired
I've learned
To appreciate
Not what's
Under the tree
But who's
Hand in hand
Around the tree
With me
Holding me tight...

Childhood Dreams
Childhood Dreams

Sometimes
I dream about the time
When being a child
Was so simple.
Dreams about an old home flow--
Bringing back Christmases,
While trying to play
An innocent child again
In my dream a red-nose reindeer
Takes me back home
Where my mother and father,
Long dead,
Are waiting for me
At the Christmas tree
With gifts of happy
Childhood memories....

Christmas Wishes
May the holly and the ivy,
And the mistletoe and wine,
Raise your spirits throughout Christmas,
As the stars above you shine;
May the snow be crisp and even,
As you dream a silent night,
Hope your presents are all good ones,
And your Christmases are white;
Seasons greetings for the season,
And best wishes for the year,
Eat a big fat roasted turkey,
and drink twice your weight in beer.
Seasons Greetings Soupers!...

Premium Member The New Christmas Tree
The tree in the corner shimmered with tinsel A tradition I remember from Christmases past, With bright colored bulbs and glittery roping We filled the stand with water to make it last. This year it was replaced by aluminum fronds And twinkling lights pre-installed at the store, No water required, it will last forever and ever An improvement, eh? I say “Nay, what a bore!”

Premium Member Thoughts For Today
Thoughts For Today By: Miracle Man December 13, 2020 Today, idle thoughts dart by like comets, enduring no longer than a dusting of snow. They promptly return to whence they came? leaving no revealing hints, they speedily go. But as thoughts gravitate, to Christmases past, and drift to those, some, long ago at rest. Faces without names, or names without faces, But one glimpse of the manger and I feel blessed.

Childhood memories of Christmases past
At this time of year a spell is cast
Pretty lights flash, causing feelings of cheer
A season that brings friends and family near
Musical tributes in the form of a song
Decorated stores with their lines oh so long
Sharing smiles and laughter with all those we pass
Giving gifts filled with love and toasting a glass
Sending holiday wishes to all who are dear
Merry Christmas to all and a Happy New Year!...

Christmas Love
When all the town was swathed in dark,
she took a walk towards the park,
and sat upon a bench to ponder
the things that made her heart grow fonder.

She smiled at last, despite herself,
and realised she loved an elf;
she'd met him, at the time quite blotto,
and danced with him at Santa's grotto.

So no more Christmases alone -
she smiled, and rang him on her phone...

inspired by picture 4, for Sara's 'Park Bench at Christmas' contest...

Premium Member Christmases Past
A few reminders of Christmases past --
Broken ornaments we could not set free
Once perfect tree-top angel, I’m aghast,
Bulbs too large for this down-sized tree
Children gone, only gifts for you and me.

A metal tree stand that no longer works
Moving furniture to make room for a tree,
Stories of celebrations with their funny quirks
The cat's tree fascination drove us all crazy
Preparing for visits from our distant family.
